It’s scary backing Minnesota against their big brother New York. But the hex has to end sometime and it’s a great spot with Gray starting for the Twins. New York will be playing a couple back ups again tonight and I think Minnesota will pull after losing the first 3 games of the series. Before this series, Minnesota was actually playing pretty solid ball and I think they get that momentum back tonight against an over performing Cortes.

Pick: Twins ML (+130) v. Yankees

Slight pitching advantage for the Rockies here with Marquez. We know Colorado has a lot of firepower, especially at home in Denver. Great spot here for the home team to get the win tonight with a game that surprisingly might go under.

Pick: Rockies ML (+100) v. Diamondbacks

Love this spot for the home team. Coming off a loss where they gave up 10 runs to the Tigers, I think we see a regression type game today. We also know Manning can't go for very long for the Tigers which should give KC a small advantage if Heasley can find his groove early.

Pick: Royals ML (-125) v. Tigers

America's Team will be seeking their Week 1 loss against this same opponent from last year. There are a lot of negative news against Dallas heading into this game -- no wide receivers, offensive line question marks, the list goes on and on. With that being said, the line has stayed steady at 2.5 and I'm going to take the bait. I think TB has just as many question marks heading into this year and Brady is 1 year older. He can only cover so many shortcomings.

Pick: Cowboys +2.5 (-105) v. Bucs
Units: 1

It's hard when both pitchers are horrible. Wilson is 2-8 with an ERA north of 6 and Minor is 4-10 with an ERA close to 6. Mike Minor is clearly in better form compared to how he started the season, winning 2 of his last 3 starts, but I think the Pittsburgh bats get him today. Both teams are coming off a streak of two losses in a row but Pittsburgh was on the road for those two games. I think the change of scenery may help out this young ball club, and they'll be facing a pitcher with relatively simple stuff to try to find their rhythm.

Pick: Pirates ML +120 v. Reds

Keep it simple. The best pitcher in the league is starting for the Mets tonight. Jacob DeGrom. He is the definition of a shutdown pitcher. The only thing in question is whether he will get the necessary run support. Being in Chicago and the air being warm, I see a lot of fly balls tonight. The Mets are in the middle of a heated division race. These are must win games for them.

Pick: Mets -1.5 -160 v. Cubs

This is a big fade on Luzardo, the starter for the Marlins tonight. He's lost his last 3 starts and averages less than 4.2 innings a start against the Nationals. Miami is also coming off a 4 game road strip of the Nationals back in July so I think a little bit of regression here. Washington has lost 5 straight but they are facing an offense tonight that arguably is worse than their owns. I think Washington comes out and gets the win in front of the home crowd and snaps their losing streak.

Pick: Nationals ML (+110) v. Marlins

Great spot here for Miss St to get a win on the road against a struggling program. There are a lot of question marks about the team on the field in Baton Rouge as well as the coaching staff. I think it's a great spot for Mississippi State to go in and roll them before they can find a rhythm.

Pick: Mississippi State -3 v. LSU
Units: 1

The Saints have owned Tom Brady since he joined the Bucs a few years ago. I think we see it continue today as the defense will be able to take advantage of the Tampa Bay injuries. Offensively, Winston should be better than 1 week as he continues to get healthier from ACL surgery last year. I think New Orleans will cover and win today's game in a low scoring affair.

Pick: Saints +3 (-105) v. Bucs
Units: 1

Will be a tough game going against the best team in baseball, but Rasmussen has shown he is elite. Sub 3 ERA and a 10-5 record. He is coming off a loss, where the Blue Jays got to him early on his last start out. Great bounceback spot for him. The Astros are hot -- they're always hot -- winning 8 of their last 10 games including 3 of 4 against the Athletics. But this is definitely a step up in competition and September/October is when Tampa Bay has historically made their move. They've been dominant at home, winning 13 of their last 15 at Tropicana and they have the defense to combat the Astros.

Pick: Rays ML (-120) v. Astros
Units: 1
