I'm not a big Burger King fan. Every time I've tried it I haven't enjoyed it

No way you burnt 1,300 calories just by walking a mile.
The way these apps work is they count Calories burned using a automatic baseline of calories based on the weight you put in and then add calories from walking/exercise.

So the 1300 calories is likely ~100-200 for walking and the balance is the calorie count just to be alive (i.e. body is burning calories to pump your heart, breath, etc....). You typically burn ~2k calories just to stay alive.

The numbers on my end are way lower than what you just described here. Maybe since I’m 50 lbs lighter I burn less calories with the same amount of motion.

Here's a coincidence....

As an undergraduate in college, I worked for a professor and helped on a very small piece of the calculation process for improving the estimation of calories burned in the human body while factoring in tons of variables. I think it eventually became incorporated into the software used by these apps. I was just a peon and only worked on it for "special electives course credit". Bottom line is, I contributed NOTHING but a lot of simulation runs and results. I really didn't know WTH I was doing but needed the college credit.
