You probably know this as well.... The utilities supplier options and pricing are also leveraging.

The neighborhood next to ours (more rural) installed their own water system as part of a water coop decades ago. They are now replacing the entire system due to degradation. Water bills to pay for the improvements have jumped from $400/mo prior to the project to over $1000/mo. now for same water usage. Its insane.

So wife brought me a place to check out near Panama City.

Got to say it actually checks a lot of my wants - 5 acres, has a large storage barn/workshop already on site and house is nice.

Neighbors a little close for my liking - lot is rectangular and long but not wide. Still - might warrant a trip down to look at this one.

I know it is hot as hell down that way in summer though too - hurricanes not usually a problem - but last big one came right up through there I think.
I know 3 ppl who own property up there in NorthWest FL and they love it

So damn tired of this cold and white shit already.

Have not left the house in 2 weeks. Guess it’s just a combination of getting old and the heart crap - but I am not reacting well to the single digit temps. Throw in 6” of snow and drifting making roads a pain to drive - got me wanting to move again.

Wife is not onboard with my preferred destinations (back to central NC or possibly East TN) - wants to move to Florida of all places. In general - I’ve never been a fan of living full time in Florida - combination of traffic, people in general and cost.

But if I HAVE to live down there - looking at citrus/levy/dixie county area. Seems to be a little more spread and and solid trump country. Just worry it might be a little too “southern” even for me. She has this wonderful idea of warm winters and year round sunshine - guess she forgets about ungodly heat in the summer, hurricanes and bugs as big as your hand.
Lower west coast. Bonita Springs or Naples.

That’s insane - it’s bad here for only sewer (well water) I think it’s $75 a month.

In general - water is cheaper than treating it - which is why I’d prefer a place with its own septic. Of course when your talking about glorified swamp land - a lot of issues with a septic that you don’t have in more normal elevations/soils.

Florida is an odd place. Million dollar mansions but 2 miles away you're in the hood. Lots of human trafficking in Florida.

One hurricane away from destroying everything

bad move

Same could be said of Western/Central Carolina’s.

Sometimes - you just never know. No one up there ever thought they’d be swept away in a hurricane- the mountains typically provide protection from those events and keep them well East.

Just like Nashville flooding a few years back - some places just get hit hard out of nowhere.

well aware of that fact too - waterfront typically $$ - but like you said - go inland and it’s hood or you better speak Spanish.

White guy riding though there in his pickup draws some looks for sure - either your lost, looking for something (drugs/whores) or just looking to start trouble.

Depending on the state if you decide to move to Florida and keep your other house, you have to prove you live in Florida for six months. NJ being a shit blue state requires documentation.
