If that's the case, wouldn't it be better to just go to a Blackjack table right now, and go all in? He'll have a decent cushion after three all-in bets and Dougy will have a 40% of winning each time.You don’t understand he’s down in the rabbit hole as a gambler, and if he can’t get back to his previous all time high it’s not even worth it for him. I’m not saying that is logical thinking, but it’s too late for him to change strategies at this point from his POV.
Gambling is an addiction, and this is a textbook example of it. What’s strange and worth mentioning is how readily allow it, and how we even cheer it on. For the most part, we root for him to keep going, blurring the line between entertainment and something that would be deeply concerning in almost any other context.
