absolutely not fluent by any means. I went to Hanoi university to learn. But I also work a few hours here and there at a little store for free to practice my Vietnamese. I surround myself in the culture. I speak with a lot of Norhern slang. It’s a different dialect in the south and west. It’s a tonal language. In Hanoi we use 6 tones to speak. In the south they use 4-5 tones. When I go to the south they understand me but it’s hard to understand them but I manage. I have full conversations with people. I’ve had many girlfriends that don’t speak any English. My girl now speaks English well and I hate it because we argue about that. I only want her to speak Vietnamese to me. She just wants to speak English. My Vietnamese is great just not fluent. Everyone when I talk to them is very impressed with my Vietnamese, I speak with a northern accent , girls tell me I speak like a dirty taxi driver, lots of slang. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done is learning this language. I still learn daily. Most foreigners here don’t speak Vietnamese, you can live here very easy with just knowing English.I have done a few commercials for the internet in Vietnamese too.

Last night was our coaches last game in Vietnam, he will finish his contract Monday for the final in Bangkok . He has been here for 5 years. He turned the program around and made them a force in SEA. Here are some pictures for the appreciation of his efforts.

Speaking of Áo dài, if you ever come here, I suggest you taking the tour on the motorbike with these girls. They are famous and do different kinds of tours. City tours day or night, street food tours, etc, All fluent in English and it is a great time. They always wear the Áo dài when they do tours. I did this tour in 2013, these pictures are from then.

OMG don't get me started on vietnamese food. by far my most favorite type of food on this planet. they do use a lot of herbs and veggies, but in some dishes they usually have a lot of fat or sodium.

ugh i'm sure its so amazing. damn i need some viet food now. maybe ill go get some today, it just sucks cause a lot of viet restaurants here are so americanized. only area in soflo so far with authentic food is in Margate, FL.

Ok, this is not going to mean much to you guys but it means a lot to me. You won't know who this is unless you are Vietnamese. This is one of the most famous Vietnamese singers. She tours non stop and she goes to America 2-3x a year and when she does she sells out all the places in the Vietnamese communities. I have been a huge fan of hers for years. Last night I went to go see her and had the chance to meet her. It was very cool. she was shocked that I was speaking Vietnamese to her and knew who she was. This is Lệ Quyên.

long story short, my moms oldest brother used to own a big vietnamese cuisine in margate. i just remember seeing posters of her in the front, along with other big vietnamese singers. shes so pretty
