And here we are

Another football season will have come & gone after Sunday night

It's been an interesting season with some of the things we've seen and come to expect:

*Josh Allen, LaMar Jackson, and Tony Romo's....errrrr......Dak Prescott's annual collapse
*Aaron Rodgers going down for the season 5 minutes into Game 1
*Zach Wilson still stinks
*The rise of young stars like CJ Stroud & Jordan Love
*The Detroit Lions proving that last season's strong finish wasn't a fluke
*Baker Mayfield reviving his career in Tampa
*Rams WR Puka Nacua breaking the Rookie receiving record
*Joe Flacco coming off the street to help lead the Browns to the playoffs
*The Miami Dolphins again opening the season very strong but injuries again hurt them yet again
*Bill Belichick leaving the Patriots as Head Coach
*The Eagles going from looking like favorites to win it all, to not being able to beat anyone
*The Carolina Panthers appearing as if they made the wrong pick with the #1 overall pick in Bryce Young
*Dallas CB Daron Bland setting NFL Record with 5 Pick-sixes

After the Chiefs or 49ers wrap up their season with a Super Bowl Win, we turn out attention to the 2004 NFL draft, and specifically the Chicago Bears and what they will do with the #1 overall pick.
Several teams are desperate for a Quarterback, and odds are Chicago will get some offers they can't refuse, just like last year when Carolina gave them this exact pick in exchange for Bryce Young.

As I type this I still haven't wagered on a side for the big game.
It appears most of the board like Kansas City.
I have bet some MVP Longshots & Semi-Longshots to keep things interesting.
If you do play them be sure to check Heritage and Betonline as they probably have the highest paying odds

Best of luck to you all with this last game and hoping you close out the season with a Bang!

LV REVIEW JOURNAL SUBSCRIPTION

The Super Bowl brings the biggest bets of the year.

49ers (-2, 48) vs. Chiefs: San Francisco has won and covered its last five road games, but the 49ers were only 1-3 straight-up and against the spread against AFC opponents this season. Kansas City has won and covered four straight in the playoffs dating to last season, and the Chiefs are 4-0 ATS as underdogs this season, including two straight in the playoffs. Kansas City is on an 11-4-1 under run. Underdogs are on a 15-6 ATS run overall in Super Bowls (one game closed pick’em). Edge: Under and slight to Chiefs.

Mad props: 3 massive Super Bowl prop bet wins by bettors, 1 bad beat

LV REVIEW JOURNAL SUBSCRIPTION

Jay Kornegay was still getting VIPs settled into their seats at the Westgate SuperBook when the crowd erupted.

On the first play of the Broncos-Seahawks Super Bowl in 2014, the ball was snapped over Denver quarterback Peyton Manning’s head and went into the end zone for a safety.

“All of a sudden, I hear this eruption and look up and they’re chasing the ball out of the end zone,” said Kornegay, SuperBook vice president. “I was like, ‘Did that just happen?’ I knew it wasn’t good.

“That cost us a hefty six figures on the very first play of the game. The guys were so distraught, they wouldn’t even tell me how much it was over the phone. That was, by far, the biggest losing proposition we ever posted.”

Las Vegas sportsbooks took a collective seven-figure hit after paying out odds of about 9-1 on a safety, 14-1 on a safety in the first half and 60-1 on a safety to be the first score of the game.

“During the Super Bowl, you have so much recreational play, and anything that has high odds is very popular to those types of bettors,” Kornegay said. “When you can get something at 50-1 or 60-1, you’re going to take a lot of small tickets on those types of propositions, which have treated books very well over the years.

“But when it does happen, you’re going to take a punch to the gut, and that’s what happened when they snapped it over Manning’s head.”

Here are two other Super Bowl props on which bettors won big and one brutal bad beat.

Rapid return

Forget about the first play from scrimmage. Chuck Esposito will never forget the noise he heard moments after the Bears and Colts kicked off the 2007 Super Bowl. He was doing a final check at the Caesars Palace sportsbook when Chicago returner Devin Hester caught the ball at the 8-yard line.

“And it literally sounded like a jet was taking off from the book because the crowd started to erupt and get louder and louder and louder,” said Esposito, now the Red Rock Resort sportsbook director. “As I looked up, I see Hester making a move on the kicker and running down the sideline.”

Hester returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown to instantly cash countless tickets, including the popular defensive/special teams touchdown prop (at about +270), Hester to score the first touchdown of the game, and the first scoring play of the game to be a return touchdown, which pays 50-1 each on the Niners and Chiefs in Sunday’s game at Allegiant Stadium.

“There were a lot of props tied to him. As an industry, that may have been the biggest loss, and it was on the first play of the game,” Esposito said. “It was a huge loss. I think it approached seven figures industrywide.”

Right on the number

The 2019 Super Bowl was all but over when Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein lined up for a virtually meaningless 48-yard field goal with five seconds left and Los Angeles trailing the Patriots 13-3.

But the kick meant quite a lot to a bettor at the South Point sportsbook who wagered $250 at 400-1 odds that the Rams would score exactly three points.

When Greg “The Leg” missed wide left and Los Angeles lost 13-3, the bettor won $100,000.

A SuperBook bettor also won $100,000 after betting $1,000 on the Rams to score exactly three points at 100-1 odds.

Knees to the gut

Bettors who wagered on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to go over his rushing yards prop in the 2020 Super Bowl against the 49ers were counting their winnings when Kansas City went into the victory formation at the end of its 31-20 comeback win over San Francisco.

Mahomes had 44 rushing yards, which easily eclipsed the total that ranged from 30½ to 36½. But he lost 15 yards after taking three deep kneel-downs to help run out the clock. That left him with 29 rushing yards, turning Mahomes over bettors from winners to losers in one of the worst prop bad beats in Super Bowl history.

*49ers quarterback Steve Young holds the record for most touchdown passes in a Super Bowl game.

*Tom Brady holds the Super Bowl record for most passing yards in a single game. He recorded 505 yards in the Patriots’ 41-33 loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LII.

*Washington Redskins running back Timmy Smith set the Super Bowl record for most rushing yards in a game.

*Tom Brady holds the Super Bowl record with 62 passing attempts in one game.

Brady set the record in the infamous Super Bowl LI comeback against the Atlanta Falcons. The Patriots trailed 28-3 in the second half, and Brady was forced to throw nearly every play to engineer the improbable win.
This is one of those records that may never be broken.

*Washington Redskins running back Timmy Smith set the Super Bowl record for most rushing yards in a game.
Smith rushed 22 times for 204 yards in Washington’s 42-10 romp over Denver in Super Bowl XXII, back in January 1989.

*In 2023, Kadarius Toney set a new record for the longest punt return in Super Bowl history. His 65-yard punt return early in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LVII was a pivotal moment that ultimately set the Chiefs up for the win.

*Jacoby Jones’ 108-yard touchdown return from Super Bowl XLVII is the longest kick return in Super Bowl history.
It’s also the longest play in Super Bowl history. Shortly after it happened, the lights famously shut off during the game.
Jones and the Ravens ultimately won a classic 34-31.

*Steelers running back Willie Parker holds the record for longest rush in Super Bowl history. Parker ripped off a 75-yard touchdown run in the third quarter of Super Bowl XL against Seattle.

The Steelers ultimately won 21-10. Parker finished the game with 93 yards on 10 carries. Hines Ward was named Super Bowl MVP.

*John Gruden’s 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers set the Super Bowl record for most interceptions by a team. The Bucs picked off Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon five times in Super Bowl XXXVII, romping to a dominant 48-21 victory.
Bucs defensive backs Dwight Smith and Dexter Jackson had two picks apiece. Linebacker Derrick Brooks had the final one. Three of the interceptions were returned for touchdowns. Jackson ultimately won Super Bowl MVP.
Gannon finished 24-for-44 with 272 yards, two touchdowns, five picks, and a 48.9 passer rating.

Bettor at Caesars Palace ‘all in’ with $668K ticket on Super Bowl

LV REVIEW JOURNAL SUBSCRIPTION

A bettor at the Caesars Palace sportsbook placed the second-largest reported wager on the Super Bowl.

The unidentified gambler wagered $668,181 to win $607,437.25 on the 49ers -2 over the Chiefs in Sunday’s game at Allegiant Stadium.

The bettor won on another sporting event, then rolled over the full amount on the 49ers, Caesars Sportsbook vice president of trading Craig Mucklow said.

“Cashed a ticket for that amount,” Mucklow said in a text message. “Went all in.”

Of the 14 six-figure or higher wagers on the Super Bowl against the spread or on the money line, 13 are on the Niners, including the only seven-figure bet — $1 million on the money line — that was placed last week at Caesars.

FanDuel sportsbook took the only reported six-figure wager on the Chiefs, a $200,000 bet to win $220,000 on the money line (+110).

A bettor at DraftKings sportsbook placed the third-largest reported wager Thursday, a $600,000 bet to win $500,000 on San Francisco on the money line (-120).

The 49ers remained consensus 2-point favorites over the Chiefs less than 48 hours before kickoff.

Boyd Gaming is the only book with San Francisco -2½ (+100) after the Westgate SuperBook lowered the line from 2½ to 2 for the first time since it moved it from there Saturday to attract Chiefs action.

“We took enough Kansas City money from the point spread and money line to get back to the market line,” SuperBook vice president of risk Ed Salmons said.

Caesars took a $110,000 bet to win $100,000 on the first-half over 23.

The consensus total is 47½, with Boyd Gaming and the South Point at 48.

“With a combination of parlays and straight bets, it was a six-figure difference,” South Point sportsbook director Chris Andrews said of the move. “I’d rather be first than last.”

At Caesars, 70 percent of the tickets and 73 percent of the money is on the over.

Despite all the major wagers on the Niners, Mucklow said the book needs them in the game, as 69 percent of the bets ATS and 67 percent of the money wagered at Caesars is on the Chiefs.

On the money line — where San Francisco is -130 and Kansas City is +110 — 73 percent of the tickets and 59 percent of the money is on the Chiefs.

“Including futures, we need the Chiefs,” Mucklow said. “Game on its own, we need the 49ers currently. But we are expecting some more seven-figure wagers, which changes everything.”

The single biggest liability on a Super Bowl prop bet at Caesars is a $100 wager to win $1 million on the Chiefs to score exactly two points.

I'm on a bunch of props and I feel confident in my Niners getting their 6th Lombardi trophy. Everybody on the Chiefs but the Niners have been the better team for 20 weeks. They'll be ready for this game and they'll have a plan for shutting down Patrick Mahomes and his lack of of playmakers will cost him in this one.

Brandon A anytime TD at plus money is a must bet
I took Deebo Samuel Anytime TD at +129. I think he features more heavily into the game plan this week because I can see the Chiefs double teaming Aiyuk and forcing Purdy to utilize Deebo. Not that Aiyuk can't get into the end zone but I feel more confident in Deebo scoring.
