Trump may have saved us from his tariff policy when he paused them. We were flirting with the real possiibility of negative gdp growth, expecially with estimates down to just .3%.

Q4 of 2024 indicated a 2.8% increase for the full year and 2.4% growth in the 4th quarter.

I know at the turn of the year there were solid growth estimates but they quickly dwindled when Trump came into office. I think we discussed that earlier in this thread.

Once again, we should be thankful for the solid economy of the US when rebounding from COVID.

Hopefully an all out worldwide trade war is averted, as it wouldn't just be the US losing GDP, it would be a global recession or depression, of which the US might suffer significantly.

For now, the bankers and the congressman slapped Trump upside the head and Trump seemd to have gotten it, as he caved on the tariffs.

I still think his advisors may be giving bad advice as it was outside bankers and bond market changing Trumps plan, as Trump admitted, while the cabinet and advisors ran with the idea that Trump planned this all along. Trumpo did not agree with them, so we may have to wonder about his circle there.

Transparency would be better, but I suppose keeping everyone giving mixed messages gives Trump wiggle room to go back on his word and not lose face for it.

So far, so good with the cooler heads slapping the White House around, and helping to Make America Great Again.

Hopefully an all out worldwide trade war is averted, as it wouldn't just be the US losing GDP, it would be a global recession or depression, of which the US might suffer significantly.

One final bit on that eroding growth is that the Fed will likely hold rate cuts, even if the market is hoping for them, until the persisting and stubborn inflation can get more under control.

Estimates are a bit high through 2025 and much of that may not account for the economic shifts taking place, which could worsen inflationary pressures.

Hopefully America can surprise to the upside and find a way to grow GDP at a higher rate but consumer sentiment and activity will be huge for that.

And the core inlfation outlook, rising this year before falling in the 4th quarter this year, might have a big influence on consumers.

Once again, we need to wait for real economic data and hope that data doesn't become stale lines with sudden shifts in policy, mostly tariff policy, but other policy to get trade barriers in some countries down.

From a trading perspectice it could get wild as we could be in a sideways market that is highly volatile, yet still sideways when we zoom out. When consolidation comes, we'll see it develop.

At least until somebody gives Trump a policy idea that he will act upon, then anything goes. A fact that keeps investors a bit nervous.

oh man.

back pedaling on China

hate to see it

Trump admin caving even more with exemptions from tariffs on iphone and other electronics.

If he keeps up this backtracking inflation expectations will certainly ease a bit.

Trump saving the economy from himself, little by little.

The admin now backing away from disagreeing with Trump over the notion that he planned this from the beginning, Art of the Deal style.

Now they say Bessent and Lutnick "encouraged" Trump to halt the tariffs, coming in line with Trump's notion that it was not a planned reversal.

Trump starting to do the right thing, even if it just to undo his previous rollout.

Some must be a little pissed at the capitulation though, because there is no real world win until ground is broken in the US.

Let's hope they stick to their guns for manufacturing and curtail price increases until at least then, where perhaps the outlook of GDP growth will overtake the inflation worries.

YAS KWEEN!

If you can't swim and I push you in the river you might be a little mad. But if I jump in and save you, you'd better do nothing but praise me for saving your life.

The fact that I pushed you in is just old shit at that point and if you mention it I'll be like...

effective tariff rate has changed very little

we are still grabbing the works by the balls!

Can't wait until we can produce the whole iphone in the US and the same for electric vehicles.

If you weren't such a liberal cuck snowflake you would realize our fearless leader, the smartest man in the history of the US Presidency, the one who gave us the cleanest air and water in US history during his first term, is really setting the stage for a massive boost in EV sales...

Fucktard Trump said the world is ripping us off

He's obviously screwed up in the head

I’m sure Charles Schwab went up to Trump in the oval office, tears in his eyes, and said “Mr. President, sir, if you don’t reverse your policies, you will forever be known as the Inflation President.”

We used to have a saying among us financial advisors, “ Don’t fight the Fed.”

Trump realizing he can’t get what he wants by fighting the Fed.

If he doesn’t play ball the dollar could lose strength. He doesn’t really want that. Then he gets rates he doesn’t want.

So stop being such a liberal cuck snowflake with TDS while also trying to be Trump’s psychiatris.

Pick one or the other…. :lmao:

Trump with the mutumbo finger wag on 35,000 health workers overnite. Sharp

Yeah, some of that sucks. But hey, you have take your medicine, even that means taking away your medicine.

They could have wound out of it, making sure others were replacing the service. Like the original tariff roll out, there were better ways to do it.

The chainsaw will cause bleeding, I think we all know that.

They didn't even save any money, in perspective. Wrong on many levels.

But hey, we can always claim "Waste, Fraud, and Abuse" and don't need to show any evidence of any of it.
