He’s doing something that should have been done long ago

Could he do it differently as some suggest?

i heard someone say & explain that this isn’t like a war, when you act and screw up there is no going back and fixing it

These tariffs are negotiations that can be worked out
The last sentence is the ideal scenario. I think he has been negotiating with Vietnam’s prime minister. If we can negotiate a good deal for us and lower the tariffs, that’s a win.

This tariff RETALIATION for being effed over for so long isn’t merely about getting a fair shake financially

It’s also a tactic to bring companies back tothe U.S.

For those who have been following, it’s already been working

But there’s still a long way to go

Too many ppl are ignorant to the fact that we if we ever do go to major war are screwed in ways you haven’t even thought about

How are we going to feed ourselves and treat ourselves medically when we rely mostly on other countries for those things .We are in HUGE trouble if that happens anytime soon

Those are the types of things you should be worrying about

Trump is your guardian Angel looking after you in ways you aren’t even aware of such as the examples above and ppl think they know better than him SMH

Stop.... That's embarrassing.

  • 11 bankruptcies
  • Thousands of business lawsuits against him.
  • Mr. Art of the Deal promised to resolve Ukraine war day 1. Guranteed it even.
Its day 74 and Russia is still toying with Trump on the negotiations. I doubt the war comes to a settlement this year.
  • His business school professor called him the dumbest student he ever had.
I could go on.
Please never call him a good businessman.
Not to mention the biggest wealth transfer to Big Pharma with Warp Speed with much of it being upper middle class business owners that got put under 👎

I don't think I've seen a single person argue against using tariffs.
Everyone is arguing against HOW he's doing it via nuclear option.

Everyone agrees: US was getting screwed for decades. Bring jobs to US. That is all good.
This is not how to do it.

👍🍺

Like 50 years ago.

I said it earlier, in the 70’s when the ‘Big 3’ automakers left Detroit for foreign lands - THAT was the time for tariff punishment. Barn door has been open too long, and the horses have f#cked and multiplied…..

If Trump is using this for ‘leverage’ to get other things done, fine. But I don’t see many of these ‘American’ companies bringing their factories back here anytime soon…..

How does anyone know this already?

They literally just took effect.

The only people I see arguing against are the countries that have been fucking the US for decades and the domestic democrat enemies of the country.

Obviously we don’t know the whole story

But he has been talking about this for a long time and every country has had the opportunity to take it upon themselves to work it out with us before he implemented them

Did they think he was bluffing and he called it?

And have some countries already made deals to fix things, yet others have the nerve to think they can continue stealing?
That in itself speaks volumes

We don’t have all of the answers

But we’re all in it together

I'll repost this one for you...
In 6-8 months, you can't continue to say, its not been enough time. I have a feeling, unless Trump backtracks quick, we will be in a world of hurt within that time.

Give measures on how success will be evaluated......

So lets get some baselines established on how we measure the success (or not) of these tariffs.

In 6-8 months (a timeline Phillyflyer indicated above) what do we expect the following indicators to be BETTER/WORSE?

And what should we add to the list as a measure of success?
  • Unemployment
  • Inflation
  • GDP
  • Trade deficit
Lets get some measurements out there so we can have a good discussion at that point on if this process worked or not?

As I've said a couple of times now....
If Trump backtracks and settles with other countries, we might be OK. But, if he lets the nuclear fallout from his tariffs continue to linger, we're screwed.

Investment.

Investment is key.

We're already seeing some benefits actually.

Honda and Apple for example.

So by Trump backtracking you mean for him to tell some countries “Ok never mind you can continue fucking us charging 200% to our 25%.”

There’s really no other way to put it…

OK. So we're down to putting words in my mouth?
I never said that.

Also, why did you not answer the question about 5 things you hate about Trump to prove you do not have 100% fealty to him?

First, Thanks for replying to that post.
OK we include investments along with the prior list. That is a great addition.

But, we only count those factories that are actually starting construction and/or jobs that have actually been implemented. Companies can promise a lot of things to appease Trump and then not follow through. Remember the factory that was going to be built in Wisconsin and generate thousands of jobs during Trumps first term. Poof.... didn't happen.

Also, not trying to be a naysayer but....
  • The Honda plant was initially being considered in 2024 under Biden. But, Honda did finally commit to it recently. I believe the tariffs pushed them across the line. We'll see if they actually do it.
  • I will believe the Apple moving to America when I see it. The only way they can do it and not have Iphones cost $3k is to have 90% of parts imported and finish final assembly here.

I wasn’t really putting words in your mouth

But I did say there’s really no other way to put it, which I stand by

I would have to mull your question over

Not sure I could even come up with 5 things I HATE about Joe Biden

I can tell you who & what I do hate though

Barrack Obama - For being the one to create & start the racial wars, political division and solely responsible for where we are today

Everyone on both sides, Democrats & Republicans, should hope that MFer burns in hell for everything he’s done

I could come up with a long list of items about Biden too.

We can probably agree on one point.
Both sides have shitty options.
