Can’t wait for Liberation day on April 1… ops, I thought Trump was fooling around. It’s on April 2!

"The Fed would be MUCH better off CUTTING RATES as U.S. Tariffs start to transition (ease!) their way into the economy. Do the right thing. April 2nd is Liberation Day in America!!!"

— Trump posted on social media Wednesday.

:lmao:

Spoiler Alert: Before tariffs started, it wasn’t going to work. When it started, it’s not going. And when it continues, it continues to not work.

“Chaos is a ladder.” This doesn’t apply to making the world leading country stronger. It allows weaker countries to gain power.

So lets get some baselines established on how we measure the success (or not) of these tariffs.

In 6-8 months (a timeline Phillyflyer indicated above) what do we expect the following indicators to be BETTER/WORSE?

And what should we add to the list as a measure of success?
  • Unemployment
  • Inflation
  • GDP
  • Trade deficit
Lets get some measurements out there so we can have a good discussion at that point on if this process worked or not?

Trump is the second coming of Christ to be honest. He is an American hero and there will be a Bronze statue made of him that will be put in Washington DC when it's all said and done.

The current outcry is yet another example of the U. S. having the highest percentage of idiots

While most citizens from every other country speak of standing together & strong through the tariffs, half of America does not do the same and are enemies within

Move to those other countries if you prefer siding with crooks who have been stealing from the states for a very long time thru tariffs

I based it on my prediction on our economy will be worse. I have a hard time understanding what Trump’s goals (goals seem to change every week) on the tariffs as he once stated the tariffs against Canada is for the fentanyl. Don’t know how to measure that though.

However, Trump has boasted about several aspects of the economy during the presidential campaign such as grocery prices (can use metric of CPI - consumer price index); stock market (DJI or SP as the metric); and unemployment (unemployment rate as the metric). I’m predicting that these (3) metrics will be worse as long as he’s imposing his liberation tariffs.

Guess one can throw in the GDP, too, as long as the calculations remain the same as Trump has mentioned changing the formula or eliminating certain item(s) from the GDP.

“Tariffs in Trump’s first term triggered retaliation that caused a reduction of more than $27 billion in agricultural exports, according to USDA. The government gave farmers $23 billion in economic aid to help offset the loss.

The farming industry relies on exports for more than 20% of its annual income, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.

Trump administration officials and lawmakers have begun exploring a relief package for U.S. farmers as agricultural trade groups warn of economic repercussions from tariffs.”

But wait, what happened to everyone must go through pain to get to the riches of making America Wealthy Again!? Why should we bail out the farmers? Let everyone take the hit for these tariffs.
