I swear I am freaking DONE with people.

So the 2nd person who said they wanted the job - but wouldn’t do it unless I paid in advance calls/messages me non stop yesterday. Evidently they are now hard up for cash enough that they can can do it if I’m able to pay them when they are done. I just ignore them because someone else took the job already and it’s done. Remember this was supposed to be done Tuesday - so calling Friday and saying I’ll do it because I got no money is 3 days past when it was to be done.

So wake up to angry messages - how dare I hire someone else for the job that I turned down earlier in the week. It’s completely unfair that I hired someone else as they were gonna do the job anyway (and evidently not tell me after I said no thanks - I’ll find someone else when asked for payment up front) but got hurt Sunday (the day they first said they would do it) and couldn’t work all week - so they were counting on this money as they won’t get paid for their day job this week.

WTF is wrong with people - you are “counting” on me to pay you for a job you turned down because you didn’t go to work at all this week - and it’s my fault for hiring someone else to do the jobs you turned down. And why not just simply say - hey, I want the job but I got hurt - any chance it can wait because I’ll be missing a weeks pay from my job and need the spare cash.

Sadly representative of the type of people I deal with back in the area and why I left. Also why I am selling down there and moving on when I’m surrounded by neighbors like this.

Oh no doubt they are weird how damn town is weird. Never been around people with a sense of entitlement who should have no reason at all to think that way based on their status in the world (and I hang around gambling forums).

Again - it sucks having people like this as neighbors - at the same time 80% of my neighbors still share my last name - so not too worried. At the end of the day family has my back against outsiders.

Yea - it’s a complete cluster down there.

For being an uncommon name - it’s weird. Short and easy explanation though - multiple immigrant families taken in by members of the Friends Church (Quaker’s) between 1850-1910. Literally - you have families with 16-18 “children” some of whom were born a few months apart allegedly and never made an appearance on census rolls until they were well past 10 (since they only record info every 10 years).

The story I got was my great grandfather was a 14-15 year old Irish kid who emigrated from Ireland - hopped a train in NY and headed West - somewhere along the line he was caught by a railroad bull (security guard) and in those days railroad bulls weren’t overly sympathetic to Irish hitchhikers - anyway he got into a fight and managed to flip the bull off the train where he died. When they realized what happened - they stopped the train and my great grandfather jumped off - his in woods before making his way to his “new” parents barn where they hid him and made him part of the family.

It’s an odd mix looking up descendants - and realizing for example I have relatives from various countries all love at the same time frame who could not possibly be related by blood. My mother’s side is much simpler - Irish who liked to divorce and marry their ex’s siblings. Seriously - this family tree is way too complex - had to study it when deciphering some long held mineral rights and figuring which relatives were rightful owners of things owned in 1890-1905.
