Also, I get the right to redshirt but a player sitting out he season BECAUSE an NIL deal fell through is clear yet another unintended consequence of NIL.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for paying these players that do a huge job, but this NIL shit is so hariy that they need to iron it out soon.

A lot of shadow money breaking the rules across the country.

Hearing on CBS that some deals were promised after enrollment, but it's pretty clear in his tweet that it's not the case.

Sure feels like rules were broken here.

I support NIL like it seems you do KVB, too. When coaches can make 13 Million a year players should make some coin too. Having wrote that we are in the incipient stage for sure. there needs to be more guidelines and rules for the NIL cuts. I assume the courts will get more involved one day. Reggie Bush just sued somebody.

Exactly.

I have no problem with these guys getting their due, I've felt that way for decades while gambling on them.

But they need to stop the shadow money trying to recruit players with NIL deals.

It's not supposed to go down that way and, if that's going to be the rule, then NIL non profits working under the table need to be banned from school contact, which has happened in Florida to boosters and alums making offer to prospective players to come to their school.

But the players need to treat that type of recruiting like it's gambling. Lifetime ban if you go down that road before enrolling in a school.

I mean, we all get it.

Be the starting QB at Bama, you're going to get some good deals. It's like an unwritten thing here.

But if Nike or Joe Graduate ex player alum booster decides to offer you a deal TO COME to Bama, then rules, and possibly state laws, have been broken.

I don't know all the specifics of all the state laws but the NCAA is pretty clear that it's a fundamental violation of NIL.

UNLV is claiming reps and the NIL collective demanded more payment in order for the player to continue playing.

If that's true, that would be against the law in Nevada.

UNLV would just be following the law by denying to pay this guy.

Ok, I'll stop the spamming of thread after one more.

NIL collective

For those unfamiliar, the NIL Collective is a non profit setup that helps facilitate NIL deals.

Remember, schools can't pay players, so outside groups set up the collectives and make deals.

But offering deals before or during recruitment is not allowed. Neither or crazy deals.

For example, if the collective offers an on campus job to the player, he has to be paid like any other student would be paid. In other words, you can't offer a cafeteria job to a player and then pay him 10k a month to work one hour. Groups have been punished for trying to do this.

Kids today reaping the benefits of the NCAA making billions and billions over the decades on their NIL

Makes for a lot of chaos but it is what it is

Yeah, they need to be made to understand that it's a great opportunity, just like playing football at the level and potentially higher is a great opportunity.

All you have to do is follow a few simple rules, most to maintain the integrity of the game (like gambling on your team).
