Damn - pissed off family member of someone whose insurance wouldn’t pay for treatments or just some nut case hoping to get rich sparking a drop in UHC stock or the Dow Jones (UHC is the biggest stock in the big board - as share price and not market cap drive the average).

Strange no security in place at all - as I understand it he was walking from the hotel on the street to the nearby center where an investor day was being held - gunned down in the street.

That in itself tells me either the shooter was no dummy / or very very lucky. A busy NY street is not exactly easy to make a clean get away. There’s the obvious traffic (pedestrian and vehicle) - cameras everywhere (surveillance and people with their phones) and then the issue of how do you simply “blend in” while chaos all around you.

At past employers had friends who were familiar with things like protection of persons of interest/high level execs - basically responsible for providing insurance to their employers and such - think high level employee with an oil company doing business in some African nation type of thing.

For a person of this level - it would be odd he was just alone by himself on the street walking from building to building immediately before an investor meeting. Not as high profile as a general shareholder meeting I guess - but still these are events for big investors and media - making them great opportunities for some person/group wanting to get attention for their cause that involves the company presenting to do so - protesting or pulling some PR stunt for example.

But why kill him ? What’s the motive here?

If he knows - he likely didn’t discover this “secret” all on his own - plenty more involved and now someone else will be as well as bringing massive media attention to the matter and an investigation.

First rule of keeping something quiet - you do so QUIETLY. Make it look like he’s a criminal - insider trading or something - get him out of the spotlight and away from the media - THEN eliminate him.

Hillary didn’t write the playbook - but she knew how to follow it pretty damn well. Shooting someone on a street is Russian gang level shit - not political.

I played tennis with Brian several times, we were in the Lifetime league in Minny. He was a straight shooter with a beautiful wife & couple kids.

United has come under a lot of heat in past years. Maguire the previous CEO is one of the richest men in Minny & floated as possible buyer of Twins. My guess is one of two things:

1-Someone got denied a treatment for some pre existing deal or selective procedure (I can see snowflakes flipping for not getting free tranny surgery or because mom didn't have insurance until she found out she had stage 4 breast cancer then applied).

2- They thought he was Maguire and maybe there was some blackmail or ransom BS going on but got mistaken identity.

Unless your the former and soon to be president of the United States - then it happens a couple of times a year that someone takes a shot at you.

Seriously- how are we surprised someone managed to kill an executive of a company - allegedly 2 otherwise lightly trained individuals acting on their own managed to come within an inch and a couple of seconds of taking out Trump.

Talking people without any significant connections - no more raining than what they could get off the interwebs and guns anyone could buy.

Don't forget the Maguire angle. His billion dollar fortune was built on back dated stock options & defrauding shareholders. He may still owe some of that $500mm IRS settlement and if UH / Brian had a back room deal to bail him out so he can buy the Twins, there'd be motive here if Brian said no.
