If the average person on the streets doesn’t know about NBA playoffs, then maybe they belong to the streets… lol. Here’s the punchline:
“The opening weekend of the NBA Playoffs averaged a 2.0 rating and 3.77 million viewers across ABC, ESPN, TNT and truTV, down 8% in ratings and 9% in viewership from last year (2.2, 4.15M), which was the most-watched opening weekend since 2011 (4.32M).”
And it only gets funnier with Sat:
“The NBA Playoffs swept the top four sports audiences of a busy day on Saturday, April 20.
The opening day of the NBA Playoffs averaged a 2.0 rating and 3.75 million viewers across ESPN and ABC, down a tick in ratings and 5% in viewership from last year (2.1, 3.96M). Lakers-Nuggets led the way with a 2.8 and 5.65 million on ABC, trailing only Warriors-Kings in the same window last year (6.26M) as the most-watched opening day playoff game since 1999.”
And then Sunday:
“The NBA Playoffs and NASCAR went one-two in a competitive midday window to top the Sunday, April 21 sports ratings charts.
Sunday’s Mavericks-Clippers NBA playoff game averaged a 2.6 rating and 4.66 million viewers on ABC, down 11% and 16% respectively from Lakers-Grizzlies last year (3.0, 5.54M), but still the largest sports audience of the day.”
