I have had an account with Sports Spread for a number of years and never had an issue with withdrawals. I haven’t used their site for a while and have a withdrawal pending. Is anyone aware of issues still about their ability to pay out? I’m quite concerned after reading the various online comments on the issues of non payment. Rest assured I will stick to spreadex and sporting index in future.

sb1972, I hope for your sake that SportsSpread do not owe you a lot of money, as in my experience (and that of many people on here) you will never be paid. Despite the various excuses attributed to Brian O'Neill on this thread, their ability to pay out isn't in question. They just don't want to. I am in the middle of a long legal battle with them for the return of a substantial sum they owe me. I can't go into detail until everything has been resolved, but suffice to say that the people running this company are a bunch of petty crooks.

Well to be fair to SportsSpread I have made two withdrawals and they took about 5 working days.

I'm glad you've had some joy - I wish I was as lucky. Were the withdrawals for sizeable sums? I get the impression that the larger your withdrawal request is, the less likely you are actually to get paid.

Hopefully you wont have any problems when you try to withdraw.

Maybe take 3 or 4 k first time so it doesn't look like you are bugging out totally, to be extra careful with them.

I'd take it out in dribs and drabs if I were you (<£1k at a time).

I'd also strongly suggest you take a screenshot of your account transaction history in case your account gets closed. I've recently won a court case against these crooks, and the screenshot of my account was an important piece of evidence in my favour.

I'd also suggest you keep a record of any communications between SS and yourself.

how would you recommend i withdraw the funds via cheque or bank transfer? Good to hear that someone has had success against these crooks. They have told me new accounts must wait 30 days to withdraw funds, so ill try n get my money out then.

Sounds about right. They are the best in the business when it comes to delaying tactics.

Dear DunkirkPie - you said you won a court case and I read an internet thread on this sometime ago (don't know if that related to you). Did you get money off them? I'm wishing to take legal action myself now and would appreciate an update. Best Wishes.

See also my post immediately above. This is an extract from the website where I found a case refered to - 'Brian O&apos;Neill, a betting consultant to Sportsspread.com, told the court he had advised the company that gambling debts and gambling monies connected to gambling were not recoverable at law under Section 36 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1956. The recovery of monies ban had been upheld in the Irish High Court in another case.'
It's interesting if this reporting is correct - B O'N is referred to as a 'betting consultant' - the dogs in the street know what is going on here with the bankrupts O'Neill and his buddy Rice. It's a joke and an embarrassment that the Irish Authorities do not appear to be able and/or willing to shut this operation down. I phoned SS only yesterday and asked the guy who answered if payment difficulties had been sorted. He said he didn't know what I was talking about. I asked him his name and he hung up. More lies on top of bucketloads of lies. I don't know how these people sleep at night. To find the full article referred to above google 'sportsspread court case'. mlan, I can't really comment on my own case as I am still in the process of trying to recover the money which the court awarded to me. Once everything has been resolved I will be able to go into a lot more detail - hopefully this will be in the next few weeks.

The regulatory authorities in Ireland have been asleep at the wheel for a number of years following the financial crisis, and the Irish state's contradictory attitude towards gambling (happy to tax it but unwilling to regulate it) doesn't help. I don't expect this to change any time soon, due to the influence of religious interest groups.

Interestingly this means that Irish citizens are free to run up gambling debts with UK betting firms and can effectively walk away from them, as in the case of SPORTING INDEX LIMITED V O'SHEA.
