Below is an email I received from Brian O'Neill in January this year. Of course it all just seems like delaying tactics and utter rubbish. He talks about having 'payment problems' for a year but forum searches make it obvious that this has been their way for many years. It also appears that they do not pay out some 'small' winnings. I have tried many avenues including the Department of Justice in Ireland and am still not getting anywhere. I could accept all this if they were no longer trading but they are still taking money of unsuspecting people. I am thinking of contacting Bank of Ireland whom I think they bank with. Has anyone got any other ideas? At some time in the future I will visit their premises and try to ask questions directly but I can't imagine getting far with that one either. The 'good faith' payment never arrived and I have received nothing from them since.
Dear Robert,
We are still dealing with a substantial issue that has strait jacketed us for over a year.
We had a court hearing on Dec 3rd and outcome is "pending".
Success here brings the company back on an even keel and the two dozen or so outstanding payments will be made.
If not successful, we will probably have to consider a sale or merger proposal currently on table as we recognize the business cannot continue with the current uncertainty.
Notwithstanding the above, I will get you a payment early next week to show some good faith.
I understand your frustration and some the steps you outline are ones I might well consider if the shoe was on the other foot.
regrettably we have learned from long and expensive experience that enforcement of betting debts is a dead duck in Ireland at present (thankfully this is likely to change under new legislation this year) and this is largely the reason why we have endured large problems in past year as we are owed a large multiple of what we owe but reasonably good clients have started to exploit the lack of enforcement.
As stated above, we will come good with a good faith payment early next week and likely have all paid within a few weeks irrespective of legal outcome.
Best Regards
Brian
