I've had an account with them for over 20 years and have never had a problem with them until this weekend.
By way of background, my balance was approximately $5800 a few weeks ago. I had left that balance in my account since last winter because I trusted them and I knew I would be betting with them for football season. At the beginning of September I read some negative stories about SBG/BetNow on the forums. I decided to withdraw 3k to mitigate my risk, which I received the next day, leaving me with a balance of approx $2800. The prompt payout gave me some confidence that perhaps some of the negative posts about them lately had been isolated or overblown - turns out I was wrong.
Last weekend, I resumed betting football (NCAA and NFL). I went 2-2 on my wagers, betting 1k per game. My account remained opened. This Saturday, Sept 13, I made four college football wagers. I went 4-0 on my bets, bringing my balance to over 6k. My wagers were correctly graded and the winning bets were properly reflected in my account. On Sunday morning I logged in to look at the NFL lines. My account was fully accessible and the balance was correct. I did not place a bet at that time. On Sunday afternoon I attempted to log in again, but instead I received a pop-up message that read "your account is inactive, please contact customer service."
I contacted customer service via phone. I was informed that my account had been closed and that I would not be receiving any of my balance. They initially claimed that I was part of a "line moving group," which is absurd. Then they said "you're betting the line before it moves, which isn't fair." The bets that I made were not erroneous or inverted lines (betting something at +140 when the line should be -140, for example). Notwithstanding that fact, I asked why they thought it was fair to confiscate my entire balance instead of just canceling my bets if they thought the bets were illegitimate. The manager (Augie I think was his name) explained to me that since my lifetime figure was positive, they were just going to take my entire balance because I had already "won enough money" from them (they claim I am up approximately 19k lifetime on them, which could very well be possible). I asked Augie whether or not the sportsbook was under new ownership or new management and he said he could not comment on that. He did tell me, however, that they do have a new "risk management department," which apparently is tasked with kicking out winners. It's puzzling that a sportsbook that has been around for so long would be willing to trash its reputation right at the beginning of football season.
I am hoping that someone over at SBG aka BetNow with some authority and a reasonable understanding of bookmaking decides to do the right thing and pay me the money that I won.
