I like some of his music - had an incredible run of great albums there first 15 or 20 years. Not just the individual songs - but listening to Nebraska as an album for example track to track.

Im sure he puts on an amazing show - but how much of that show is political rants/opinion ? If the answers is more than 0 - I’d pass. Same reason I pass on many others who insist on giving lectures at a show I PAID to attend. It’s simple - if I’m paying $$ (especially the kind of money he commands) - I want ZERO politics. If im attending a free political rally he’s performing at - fine - I knew what I was signing up for by showing up - but a concert I paid you to ENTERTAIN me - not lecture me on what your political opinions.

Willie has always been an incredible showman - remember seeing him many years ago at a local country Jamboree - his bus just pulls up - day of show with a whole lot of “interesting” characters - some would make their way out to the area with other performers and mingle - renew acquaintances or talk about the next stop 150 or so miles up the road where they would play the next day - but Willie - he’d just hang back in his coach - entertaining select visitors and playing dominos until it was time to take the stage.

And just like that - the man would come out - do his set and like clockwork perform his encore while the manager made sure they were paid and back on the road they would go. Absolute true professional at touring. Only guy I can think who was better at it was the late Chuck Berry himself - he’d been burned way too many times by promoters and had it down perfectly to make sure he got a guitar case full of cash before he left the venue - and had people to make sure there were no problems.

Personally - I think it’s much easier for a solo act to keep it up later vs a band.

Look at Springsteen, McCartney and all the solos still selling tickets and delivering. The Stones - meh..they are still “good” - but they have been overdue to retire since ‘83. The Who touring again - why ? It’s time to just acknowledge time has taken its toll and quit grasping at every dollar you see.

Speaking of grasping at every dollar - even KISS knew when to hang it up. I mean they had some great songs - but it just feels disingenuous when you’re singing about your teenage energy and blues when you pushing 70! Same kind of feeling I get watching the Taylor Swift concert movie now - you got some 36 year old woman singing songs she wrote at 15 about teenage love. Give me a damn break - just because there’s an audience that will still buy tickets to see you because your both “safe” and popular - doesn’t mean you shouldn’t grow up at some point and just start writing new songs about adulthood - no matter how poorly they may sell.

He doesn't talk much at the shows

The only time he really talks is pumping up the crowd or dedicating his acoustic song to his late friend

There is ZERO politics at his shows. Never has been any

He goes straight from song to song usually. Like no pause at all

And I agree about your run of albums. I would say Born To Run to Tunnel of Love -- all of those albums are all-timers. He has other great albums too of course

Springsteen is touring with the E Street Band currently. The band is a large part of the attraction -- they're incredible

I do think he will probably "end" his career doing solo stuff after the band calls it quits
