Ken Boyer Spotlight:
The 1964 NL MVP was an 11x All-Star and won 5 Gold Gloves during his 11 seasons in St. Louis. He is the only player whose number has been retired by the club who is not in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Bob Gibson's induction into the Hall of Fame only recived 84% of the vote on his first ballot.
I can't believe it was only 84%.

Only 1 player has been unanimous; Mariano Rivera.
I'd put Gibson's performance >> Rivera but I guess that was a different time/age for MLB.

Bob Gibson and Koufax two of the best ever.

On this day in history, the St. Louis Cardinals beat the St. Louis Browns 3-1 to clinch the World Series, four games to two. The 1944 Trolley Series is notable for many reasons:

It was one of only four World Series in which all the games were played in one stadium;

It marked the first time two teams west of the Mississippi River met in the World Series;

It was the only World Series in which no steals were recorded;

It was the last time that a team in the World Series didn't send a single player to the Hall of Fame;

And it would mark the Browns' only appearance in the Fall Classic.
