Not trying to convince you. For people like you, no amount of evidence ever presented will be enough to.convince you.
This is the case for soooo many (not really talking about River)

No amount of evidence will ever be enough to make some people even CONSIDER something out of the norm might be possible and simply don't understand that something which seems far-fetched being true is actually normal these days

I will always listen. But for the NFL I would need a lot more detail than that.
So him taking the evidence to the FBI wasn't enough?

Pretty sure you present false info to the FBI in order to make false allegstions, you would be the one arrested and charged.

No , it was an allegation. Have to assume they investigated it and They did not act on it. He would not be punished for presenting what he thought was the truth I can’t imagine.

I can see this issue from both sides but what's being claimed is a big deal. I think it would take a lot of evidence to convince many (like me).

Why would this not have been a HUGE story in the press (any press - right/left/middle) if it were true?

Sure, there may be some QBs or coaches spout off about certain teams (i.e. Chiefs) and players (Brady) always getting the call or even a player being bought off (like the NBA guy was this season) but ,rampant game fixing in the entire NFL to the degree the guy in the video indicated..... I'm not buying it yet.

Its gonna take a lot more than 2-3 unknown guys saying it happened to convince me. Where's the headline player or coach speaking up if its as rampant as indicated.

Line up good evidence.
I'm ready to be convinced.

I’m ready to be convinced as well. But the best players get the calls?? Of course they do and have in every sport since day 1. Always will.
paying qb’s 50 years ago might have worked but not today.

The last part is very true. You can't get away with that these days.

I don't believe the NFL is rigged, but to think it's not even possible and discount it totally just like so many other things these days, is just absurd

It wouldn't be that difficult to do....

Odds originate in Vegas and mimicked everywhere>First half of games take about 1.5 hours>By that time all numbers/wagers could be gathered & relayed back to 'headquarters'>Those in charge run the numbers, see which game or games would benefit the house(s) most and relay back to whoever is involved, probably officials, to help get those games to come through in their favor

Far-fetched?

Yes

But really a simple process if they wanted to do it

I agree with this premise. Anything’s possible it seems but money to an nfl player these days isn’t going to cut it I don’t think.

I think its completely possible for a ref or two to be involved in "fixing" a game. But I do not think it's as rampant as is being portrayed here. I would also say that if a ref is throwing a game, it would come out over time since they are scrutinized by everyone.

If that's the level of fixing we're talking about (1 game here and there), sure, it probably happens but in the video the guy said 70% of games are fixed. No way.

Also, I don't think there is a headquarters dictating game outcomes across the league. That would be too hard of a "conspiracy" to keep secret. We would have heard some real news about that level of crime by now. For example, remember when Boston College b-ball cheating blew up in the press in the late 70s.

This ties in the military to a lot of sports.

Here is an excerpt. I'm not saying I agree with it but it sure makes for interesting reading. Lots of musicians from the 60's had military connections in their families as well.

I take that as my hint that Jimmy Johnson is military. He went to high school with Janis Joplin which was Laurel Canyon-connected. Buffalo Bills GM during the Super Bowl years was Bill Polian who is also famous for being the GM of Peyton Manning’s Colts. He is considered one of the greatest GMs of all time. Well he has 14 years missing in his bio between college and the USFL. He went to a Marine Academy and then coached Trinity School in Manhattan (Trinity being a signal for intelligence).

Bills coach Marv Levy was former Air Force. I mentioned earlier that owner Ralph Wilson was former Navy along with so many other original owners. Well reading the Wiki bio closer I see that he was a 33rd Degree Freemason (note the 33).

Well the Bills history is just filled with military. Here are some former Buffalo Bills coaches:
Chan Gailey – Coached 4 years at Air Force
Lou Saban – Coached Army
Bills GM John Butler – Former Marine
Mike Mularkey – Wearing Navy hat in Wiki picture
Doug Marrone – Coached Coast Guard
Buster Ramsey – Navy
Joe Collier – Army
John Rauch – Coached Army
Perry Fewell – Position Coach at Army
Wade Phillips – Father Bum Phillips was Elite Marine
Rex Ryan – Father Bud Ryan was Sergeant during Korean War

We’re talking 80-90% of all Bills coaches have been connected somehow to the military. With Bill Polian seeming like a high-level spy, it puts the Bills Super Bowl teams under scrutiny. Not only were they possibly better than all 4 teams they lost to, but it’s possible they were placed in the Super Bowl to begin with. Both Wade Phillips and Rex Ryan are beloved NFL coaches who keep being given 2nd chances. It seems they are a legacy in the NFL with their father’s military connections and coaching “success”.

Bill Belichick’s father was a scout for the Navy for 30+ years. Belichick supposedly met his shady sidekick Ernie Adams at a Prep school when Adams recognized Belichick because he had read his father’s obscure scouting book. How unlikely is that. They met at Phillips Academy which is one of the top prep schools in the Country. How did Ernie Adams get into that academy? We don’t know because they don’t mention his parents. Looks like a spook academy.

How about all the other “great” NFL coaches:
Vince Lombardi – Coached at West Point
Hank Stram – Former Military
Tom Landry – 2nd Lieutenant in Air Force
Chiefs Owner Lamar Hunt attended Culver Military Academy with Titans Owner Bud Adams. Also attending were both Steinbrenners (NY Yankees owners).

What about NFL Commissioners:
Roger Goodell – Son of a Senator
Pete Rozelle – Former Navy
Austin Gunsel – Former FBI
Bert Bell – 1st Sergeant in WWI

Other NFL coaches and players from military families:
Jim Caldwell – Heavy Military Family
Frank Reich (Bills backup QB and current Head Coach Prospect – Father was Marines
Larry Fitzgerald – Uncle AND Aunt are Lieutenant Colonels
John Fox – Father was one of the original Navy Seals
Marvin Lewis – Father was Army
Rod Marinelli – Vietnam Veteran
Andy Reid – Father was Navy
Ron Rivera (Panthers Coach) – Father was Army Officer
Norv Turner – Father was Marine

agreed Wager. not saying fixed game don't occur. But our friend Philly seems to imply all the games are on the take. After watching games for many years that seems to be far fetched. Each to his own. I mean we have a congresswoman saying the US FED gov't is manufacturing hurricanes. It is what it is?

Not where I participated for 25 years.

Not where roughly 50-100 MLB, NFL, NBA players and coaches that I knew participated.

Not one. And yes, I talked about it. Actually, just as many of them brought it up too me.

That's a fact sir.

Because it was my profession and I understood things, actions and occurrences that I either saw or did not see that most fans are either not aware of or do not even see.
But no one can deny sports have been fixed.

Tim Donaghy. The Black Sox scandal. Numerous fixes in boxing.
Numerous fixes in soccer.

What are you saying?

Sports have always been fixed and that's the facts.

I agree. No doubt about that. And I cannot speak to soccer which I know zero about. I cannot speak for all sports even in todays world.
But the NFL is a billion dollar business for each franchise. It is bigger than any person, player, referee or coach. Did that stuff happen ? Yes ! 100%. But in todays climate. No. And if it was ever attempted it would be sniffed out immediately I would think. Mainly because the owners and all the participants have way too much to lose to allow it.
As a rule of thumb, look at the revenue and purses or salaries . If they are very low like a crappy racetrack like in Louisiana or W. Va. , I would not be surprised at all. But at a major revenue producing event, IMO, it is just too big to be messed with. Nobody involved would allow something to take place that might impact the overall business revenue. It’s not worth it.

Boston College in the 70’s ? Yes !
Bowie racetrack in the early 70’s? Yes. I witnessed it.
The Black Sox ? Sure. No money in it 100 years ago.
Boxing ? Do not know the sport but check the purses. The money IS the police these days.
Soccer? Probably . I wouldn’t trust low level events at all.
Tim Donaghy? Yep. And it was the money involved that ended up catching him.
I saw a scorekeeper in the NBA cheat the clock multiple times in the 70’s trying to help the home team . Heck, I knew him. But that time is long gone thankfully. There’s just too much money.
I hope that makes sense.
Oh, and lastly, that poster The River55 is darn good people. Having discussed this topic over the years with him , he gets it.
He is a good guy.
All the best sir.
