but its easy to just travel somewhere nearby for 3 days and then go back for another 3 months or however long that visa is

Yeah that’s a good idea actually. I just don’t want to learn another language. Do they speak English over there in Vietnam at all ? If I can’t communicate with people in my surroundings, I would feel incomplete. That would be the biggest dealbreaker.

You’re just going to visit it’s not gonna be a big deal for you. I was really thinking about moving there once my son graduates high school and goes to college.

i would imagine the main language is vietnamese, but I'm sure they are teaching english in their schools over there. plus the tourists, i think you could get by. but maybe @flyingillini can confirm that for you

vietnamese is a hard language to learn, but such a beautiful language

Lived in Adana Turkey for a year back in my Air Force days. It was Ok but probably won't ever go back.
What was the biggest complaint you had living there ?
