Just find me a PSA 10 1979 Ozzie Smith RC.

Not sure there’s a tougher damn card to find (modern, non chase card) than that one. I’ve literally held hundreds of Nolan Ryan rookies, a few ‘52 Mantles (in beat up shape - long ago) and probably any other modern day valuable card you can think of from the 70s-early 90s / but never seen one I’d call close to perfectly centered. They are that damn hard to find for some reason (if I recall correctly - they were on the corner of the printing sheet).

I’ve got a couple of very nice 1984 Dan Marino’s (another tough one to find perfect) I should have graded - but the Ozzie Smith card is just impossible to find perfect.
PSA 10 Ozzie is gonna cost some serious coin, you see the PSA Pop report? Most of all the Ozzie's are OC too. Very hard to find a nicely centered one. I saw one in Robert Edward Auctions , it went for some serious $. I am excited to see what this show has to offer.

It’s wild how a card graded 10 from back in the day can out value a 9-grade by 20x or more

They are just so rare

Just take a look at the 86 fleer Jordan's, There are many PSA 8 that present very nice at a decent price but the 9 is a huge jump and often the 8 and 9 is not that much difference but the 10 is out of control. There is a saying if you are into PSA , buy the card not the grade.

Have 100,000 plus cards from the 60'-80's if interested at fair price (90% baseball)..............sold most all graded though.

Exactly why I’m not into graded stuff. When I started reading how “not all 10s are the same” - I knew it was a joke. Just do it like coins with a 70 point scale. Only reason I would ever send anything to be graded is planning to sell.

All I have these days are some leftovers from decades ago when I was big in the hobby - mainly stuff that’s just more sentimental value than anything. Still some of it has some value to it - and if I happen to be scrolling through the local auction house listings and see something from the 50-70s going cheap - I’ll make a bid.

There are a few that are on my buy list these days / but not many. The new stuff holds zero interest for me. Maybe one day I’ll start assembling a set from the 50s or something / at least a team set.

I was into it in that first baseball card boom in the late 80s.

Went to many card shows in the area. And like you saw a lot of Mantle rookies, Mays, etc. for sale relatively cheap back then. Not sure the condition but probably at best 6-7 if that. Maybe a random 8 here or there.

The cards from mid to late 80s we coveted back then and had some decent value, sets and rookie cards, were so mass produced that they are fairly worthless now.

There are poster issues that need to be addressed and resolved and we are having a face to face sit down. I am headed to https://frontrowcardshow.com/collections/las-vegas then the Raider game but Bobby and I are having a serious meeting to see what can happen to make posting and the posting environment a better, safer and more comfortable place for posters to post. Everything is on the table for the meeting. If any posters want to get anything addressed please post it in this thread as they will be discussed at the meeting.
Are you going to address the fact that I am the poster that stirs the drink here now?
