Understood but Philly has things from here that are local you can't find anywhere else in the country.

Anyone one of you ever had Scrapple? Ever even heard of it?

How about Crab Gravy? Ever heard of it?

These things are unique to us only and that's just scratching the surface.
I guess the question is - Geno’s or Pat’s? I’ve never been to Philly, but have eaten my fair share of cheesesteaks…..

For me between those two it's Geno's but go to Pat's also because they invented it.

When I want a cheesesteak I go to Philip's.

Thing I admire about the Japanese is that they are excellent hosts but frown about mixing ethnicities. They have a lot of honor in their culture and that is in short supply nowadays.
That is very admirable of them.

It's the same way in Sicily, believe it or not.

A lot of cultures came through Sicily but we are the least mixed region in all of Italy.

We kept to ourselves, kept everything between us.

That's how the Mafia started, actually.

Italians have the most diverse DNA in all of Europe and people eventually start to understand that it is not a good thing.

Absolutely - had it many times for breakfast.

Was actually excited to find the local butcher shop sells it now.

It’s a very German/dutch thing so living where I do - I’m surprised that it’s not in more places.

My grandmother loved that stuff - guessing it comes from living through the depression and stuff like that was a very common way to stretch what money they had and feed a family.

1)Duff's on AMHERST NY, perfect in every way
2)Angry Dog in deep elum Dallas area, unbelievable how good these are
3)Ale Emporium Indianapolis, a fantastic sports bar where everything is delicious and the wings are a standout
4) Archibald's in Tuscaloosa, only BBQ wings but they're smoked and loaded with flavor in every bite

Sicilians consider themselves Italian now ?

Worked with a few Sicilian families - they make it clear they are “Sicilian” in heritage - not “Italian” - Italy is the nation they come from - but they are Sicilian.

Similar to certain regions of Mexico or Texans here in the states. Meet a Texan overseas and they will make it quite clear - guess they don’t want people getting confused and thinking they are a Yankee or some commie from California.

Yeah not true.

Compare that to English or French who are much more ethnically diverse.

You've got to go back to the Neolithic age to find when Italy became truly diverse.

Every country has been conquered at one point or another.

The Roman's spread their DNA all over Europe and before them, the ancient Greeks.

In Sicily, we are most closely related to the ancient Greeks almost to the point of modern day Greeks themselves.

It's an identity thing among all Italians.

We identify from the region we're from.

Someone from Rome would say they're Roman.

Someone from Abruzzi would say they're Abruzzese.

Someone from Calabria would say they're Calabrian.

So on and so forth.

Italy does have the most diverse DNA in Europe through wars that were won and lost it is nothing to be ashamed about. Sicilians aren't darker skin because they are closer to the equater.
Never ashamed of being Italian, bro.

We're the greatest culture that ever existed..

The thing is when talking about mixing ethnically, is that you have to remember the people we fought wars with and who came into Italy were all Romanized people who the Roman's conquered previously.

So is it real genetic diversity we're talking about or is it a case of Romanized peoples moving back into the Roman homeland which is Italy?

Nobody should be ashamed of who they are and can be proud of where they came from but more importantly is what kind of person they are.

Certain cultures can be ashamed. The ones who've been around since the beginning of time and have achieved nothing on their own.

This and Philly best food............what next, Flyers best ever nhl franchise?

lolol
Italy built Western Civilization.

Actually, put the whole world in it's back and carried twice.

First, when Rome implemented government and laws, and then again after Rome fell and the world was plunged into the Dark Ages, once again lifted the world out of it with the Renaissance.

Nobody else comes close to us.

Italy now has 60 which leads all countries.
