I’ve never understood the fascination with Wingstop

It’s basically fast food

I consider myself a Buffalo wing expert

I’ve probably had wings at over 200 different restaurants in my lifetime and still to this day no places beat good ol Hooters Medium or Hot. Nothing comes close to its flavor & uniqueness besides a place called Roosters in Bowling Green Kentucky who’s very close (not sure if it’s a chain)
I'm a wing connoisseur pal

I'll give you some spots across the country that'll blow you away. Not chains

I wish I could contribute to this thread but I really don't eat fast food much.

I'll say...

I love pancakes at Cracker Barrel.

Wings at Hooters.

Sometimes I'll grab a burger at FiveGuys.

If I’m in the mood for a good steak, taking the wife to Morton’s or Ruth’s Chris - NOT the F#CKIN’ $16 kabob platter at Texas F#CKIN’ Roadhouse…..

I’d agree - but not a Ruth Chris fan overall. It’s ok - but paying for the name and not on the same level to me as Morton’s/Capital Grille or many good non chain steakhouses.

Kabob’s are just scraps they trimmed off stuff anyway - an occasional piece of a nice cut makes its way into the mix - but from a foodie perspective- it’s the equivalent of the guy who orders a Kobe burger thinking they are getting something gourmet and not just a $100 hamburger to rip off the suckers and tourist.

Hooters are great depending greatly on location. They're not all good.

But I love the Daytona wings, the original kind are good with hot and if you can handle spice, the ghost pepper there will put hair on your chest, they're absolutely no joke. The original chicken sandwich (grilled) with the hot sauce on it is always good. They're fucking expensive though, insanely high actually

I don't fukk around with chains when it comes to steakhouses.

In Philly we have The Saloon, Barclay Prime, Alpen Rose, Butcher and Singer, Malbec Argentine, Martorano's Prime, Urban Farmer, etc. etc.

No reason to go to a chain when you're in Philly.

I used to live in Tampa years ago and fell in love with their wings down there and also Cracker Barrel pancakes.

Cracker Barrel might have the best pancakes ever.

Sandwiches

Subway has its place and time.
Jimmy John's consistently good quality

Hate Jersey Mike's bread, otherwise would go there more

Quiznos was a favorite years ago, hard to find now and overpriced

Bobby if you think those places are good, you would go insane in Philly with all the great hoagie joints here.

Insane.

YES! You don’t know how many people that order the F#CKIN’ “Kobe” burger I’ve said that to! Also, why would you do that to a Kobe steak in the first place?!?!

Speaking of this, I don't know what to think of Japanese people.

Part of me thinks they're smart, part of me doesn't.

Examples...

They now produce great quality cars, whiskey, bourbon, steak, beer.

Yet, they invented none of these things.

If they're so smart why do they steal other people's things and copy it?

Are they really smart or just the world's best copycats?

Or any moderately sized city really.

I’m surrounded by chains locally - have to drive 20-30 miles to get away from them.

A few places here in town - small mom and pop places with great breakfast or a specialty menu - and one decent steakhouse (overpriced but good).

But for some unknown reasons - the stupid ass yokels around me flock to chains - fast food specifically. Never a fan of it.

I get in relatively new suburbs for example where these places are brought in by new development - but this is a long established dying rust belt area.

I understand your point and you're correct.

But Philly is completely on another level when it comes to our food..

Listen, New Yorkers come down here on the weekends just to eat.

They started moving here around 8 years ago and they take the train into New York for work.

That's how much they love it here.

The downside is they started showing up for Philly vs New York games in our stadiums and bars and have to be told to shut up or take a beating.

This is what we deal with now.

It can be best on some levels, but most every location/city has a niche that can be considered great/best.
Understood but Philly has things from here that are local you can't find anywhere else in the country.

Anyone one of you ever had Scrapple? Ever even heard of it?

How about Crab Gravy? Ever heard of it?

These things are unique to us only and that's just scratching the surface.

Thing I admire about the Japanese is that they are excellent hosts but frown about mixing ethnicities. They have a lot of honor in their culture and that is in short supply nowadays.
