Every choice that I've made and experience that I've had has led me to this exact moment. Why would I want to change any of that? If it makes you feel any better, in an alternate reality you made that choice and things ended up differently.
No, we cannot change anything from the past. But as we grow older we cannot help but think everything we've been through that has led us to who we are and where we are rn.

When I hear this question I always think back to the interview I had at a job at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. It paid about 2/3rds of what I thought I was worth and the guy interviewing me talked me out of it. It was a calibrationist where I would be making sure all the equipment met standards like weight and other dimensions.

But I think even though we make one decision against what we think would be a good choice, eventually we settle into what we are capable of given the opportunity. Opportunities eventually came my way so that I was able to have a successful career.

Well said, QL.

Calibrationist - do you need to be an Engineer for this?
