If I could go back in time, I would make more of an effort to marry my high school sweetheart. I feel like that was when my life started to go off the rails.

👍🍺 I’ve posted this story before about my 10 year high school reunion (attended it with my new wife), and this girl Raquel that I had a crush on, but never did anything about it - actually came up to me and said, “I really wish you would’ve asked me out back in high school, I really liked you a lot…..”

🤬

Don’t get me wrong, I’m in love with my beautiful wife, but man! Missed out on that!

Oh, and not buying like $5,000 worth of Amazon stock back in 1997 when it was a F#CKING BOOKSTORE!!!!!

No I graduated and knew I would never go pro. I was a starter but #5 singles starter out of 6 starting singles spots. Damn I miss the guys it was like wimbledon every day at practice. Straight monsters on a tennis court.
Looks like a great memory to remember.

But now I'm curious..why didn't you choose baseball?

I think Raquel also kinda regrets not making the first move, Malted.

Everyone remembers they should have been buying Amazon in ‘97 - but they forget about the zillion dog shit internet stocks as well.

CSCO was by far the biggest and INTL not far behind - both still around of course - but compare their performance to AMZN.

Then there was stuff like Omega Protein/Zapata, MINE, AskJeezes and a zillion others who were going to revolutionize search and make money - before anyone ever heard of Google.

Software - for every MSFT there were 20 others who vanished with investor funds.

Fact is if you randomly bought shares in every company - unless you had AMZN or MSFT and held throughout all the dips consistently - you probably lost money. It wasn’t like people didn’t realize there would be winners - they just under estimated the number of losers.

Probably shouldn't have given Enikk a line of credit....
I had a dream about that son of a bitch last night, every time he opened his mouth he was fucking lying. Kinda like in real life.

If I could go back in time I would have played the 1/2 btc NL hold 'em games back in the early 2010s. A friend kept telling me about how easy the games were and how the players would throw away their money, but I didn't see a point in playing for something of so little value. :suicide

Go back and change things - nah. The fact is I am where I am today because things played out a certain way. I may think it will be better with one minor change - but it may be entirely different.

You think you’d be rich for example - taking an opportunity that presented itself. Maybe you would be - but maybe you made a fortune, wife divorced you and took everything - so you would be worse off. Worse - maybe someone just offed you for the money - fact is most anyone alive and posting is better off now than they would be dead.

Only regrets I have is not getting to say a proper goodbye to a few people really. The rest I can’t change - so no use worrying about it. But just being able to properly say a few words and know they would be the last exchanged would have meant something to me in a few cases. You like to think people knew and understood - but always that sense of doubt too. 2020 was a rough year for goodbyes with all the isolation/distancing.

One thing I realized is that... we really didn't make "bad decisions" when we were younger, it's just that the world was very small, limited, and we were not given the right opportunity to choose the good things we want in life.
Well said.

The World is constantly changing and evolving. My wife and I had a similar discussion over dinner last night. Would we change our childhood ? The generation that we grew up in ?

Not having control over major decisions made on my behalf as a youth, would be the 1st thing I would change.

Life is not a dress rehearsal

So we make the best of the situation we are cast in and rise above it. My 2 cents

A big regret of mine was when I was training horses in the beginning there was a severally disabled young man who attended the races a lot. He could not speak , was in a wheelchair and could only make facial movements. He had a headband with a flexible metal stem about a foot long and could guide his wheelchair by putting his head down and getting the medal stem into a cup. That made the wheelchair go in the direction he wanted it to go. He would have loved to get in the winner’s circle for the win picture but I did not realize that until very late in my career.
I let 15 plus years go by without helping him get into any pictures.
Once I realized that I did do it when I saw him but I could have done that for years prior to realizing he liked that.
I should have known but I was young and just didn’t realize it. I regret that a lot.

I think I also consider this as my regret, DJ. Today marks the 5th death anniversary of my dad. 5 yrs, but the pain is still there. Still very fresh.
