I have been there 4 times, this will be my 5th time. It is the craziest place ever. The last time I went, they did not want to let me in Mong La because I was an American. they only let Chinese in that area, I paid my way to get in but they took my passport.

I am going on a 16 hour adventure from buses, taxi and train to Mong La, I am going alone, I don't want to take anyone with me Anyone I know wouldn't go there anyway. I am just afraid being denied entry to to the civil unrest, The Shan state is a Red zone but I will get in somehow.

No, where I got jacked is in Phnom Penh, I am going there the 25th for 3 days, then to Bangkok for 2 days ,then to Yangon then my journey to the Shan State in Mong La, it is going to be a crazy crazy time. Then I am headed back to Santa Barbara the end of March.
