When given the chance Biden got US Marine Trevor Reed released from Russia. Remember Trump (who is buddies w/ Putin) had 2 whole years to get Whalen released. He didn't because it is not that cut and dry.

Whelan is considered a special case by Russia which has the leverage there. If Biden could have gotten him he would have there was no just chance.

Getting 1 American was the best-case scenario. I am not a Griner fan per se but getting 1 American is better than none.

What President regardless of the party doesn't want that feather in his cap to bring home someone from our own militaries? I think everyone wants to bring our people home each and every one of them.

The Griner trade wasn't the best deal for the US (glad she's home) but Whelan could have been home for 4 years. WTH???
