Good faith, bad faith, how is that relevant? Bovada is stiffing a lot of people and not even giving a reason to the player. Then all they say to SBR/BMR is "trust us, they are bad apples" and BMR accepts it.

At this point the only solid ratings on BMR are bobbyfk's evaluations of various sugary delicacies!

I saw that too. I think it's clear that Bovada is having significant issues right now. And that's a very nice way of putting it. Do not deposit there until these issues are resolved in an amicable way. This is coming from a guy who they stole 2k from.

I really wish we had some sort of transparency about which books that handle crypto might have been affected by FTX. That is my main concern with Bovada, that they are stalling or not paying due to a lack of solvency.

I am sorry to hear that you friends syndicate of friends keeps being caught. But your comment about it being BMR's fault is not accurate.

BMR can always assist players who are not trying to break book rules and Bovada will hear out the cases fairly.

@skolar I will find out the status of your investigation and reach out to you with an update as soon as possible.
Matt,

Any updates? Its been all quiet in my email inbox and from Bovada still. Now well over 100 days.

Thank you!

I would like to get some mediation or correspondence in an ongoing issue I have with Bovada. I have filed a complaint using the form, but figured it couldn't hurt to post my situation here as well.

They abruptly closed my account for investigation "due to suspicious activity" back on November 4th, when requesting the max 9500 btc withdrawal. Total account value is roughly 12,000

This is a verified account that has made 7 or 8 withdrawals before and has gone through the KYC process.

The withdrawal prior to this 9500 withdrawal, I received a message from Bovada saying that they detected possible VPN usage. This makes sense because I was using it on my work computer. I called customer service immediately and asked them if I could just use a different device and everything would be fine, and they said it would. I stopped using my work computer and all VPNs after that.

It has been over 2 months with 0 correspondence from the Bovada investigations team. When I call Bovada or use their live chat they say that the funds are still there and I just have to wait for the investigations team to email me. There seems to be no requests from their end, no way to communicate with them, no way to escalate this. It is very frustrating.

I have read several threads on reddit and twitter about closed accounts/investigations.

Let me start by saying that none of the following common situations have occurred:

1) Same household as another user
2) Same IP as another user because I "logged in at their house"
3) Abuse of referral program (I am not registered to that)
4) Abuse of any TOS I can even think of

I posted this same thread in SBR before finding out that they don't deal with offshore books. Opti over there did say that it was possibly a good sign that they arent requesting anything from me as they might actually be investigating someone else, and somehow my account has been tied up in that. Even if that were the case the length of time and the complete lack of any communication seems completely insane.

Thank you!
Maybe they are investigating for signing up multiple accounts? I would just try avoiding VPNs at all costs.

This is what I found in their TOS:

6.2 Fraudulent Activity. If, in our reasonable discretion, we determine that a player has engaged in fraudulent, unlawful, dishonest or improper activity (including, without limitation, the usage of a VPN, proxy or similar service that masks or manipulates the identification of your real location, or by otherwise providing false or misleading information, or by making bets, wagers or poker play through a third party or on behalf of a third party) we reserve the right to immediately terminate or deny a player access to their Account. In such event, all Account balances (including both deposits and any winnings) shall be forfeited and we reserve the right to disclose information (including the identity of the player) to applicable parties including but not limited to banks, credit card companies and/or any person or entity that has the legal right to such information, and/or taking legal action against such player.'

Good Luck

It could be the reason behind their vpn rule, and luckily I do not have multiple accounts. As I stated in my original post, I spoke with them and confirmed that I just needed to comply with the vpn rule and everything would be fine, after the vpn warning. I had a withdrawal go through when they sent me a message about not using a vpn, copying that exact passage from the TOS. It just means I cant use my work computer for bovada which while not ideal is something I was able to work around. What concerns me is that after everything seemed fine, and I was using a device without a vpn, a large withdrawal later on caused them to disable it for "investigation".

This may be completely unrelated to the vpn or it couldn't. Either way issuing a warning, saying "yeah you are good to go if you stop using your work vpn", and then disabling the account when I win money later would be free rolling me and totally despicable behavior.

In any case, it's been over 100 days since Skolar's account was locked and Bovada wont respond. Many others are receiving similar treatment. I'm one of them. This is not ok.
Bovada needs to respond and makes things right. Otherwise this is never going away.
Its the silence that is deafening. How can a sportsbook hold a customer's account hostage for 4 months without saying a word? If they planned on keeping it forever wouldn't they just use some BS language to call it a ToS violation and actually cancel the account? This weird "we are still investigating" limbo is sort of maddening. I wonder if they are responding to Matt even or if they are stonewalling BMR as well?

They are hoping that you guys will give up and go away.
I bet lowering or suspending their rating here would make them respond.
Earth to BMR, please lower or suspend Bovada's rating. At least until this is all sorted out.
