First of all did he itemize all the material that he used on his bill ?
I did not get to see the itemization. They do everything on their phone so I only get the final bottom line to sign off on.

Repipe your house in PEX pipe . You are going to have more leaks down the road especially if you have type M copper instead of type L .
Tough to do with a home that is already built 30 years ago.

Are you on a raised foundation or a slab ?
Slab.

I'll post a pic of before and after.

That’s a red flag in my opinion & would not use them for future jobs. Always ask for this or do not take on the job. You can do your own research on the material cost, & if they list their labor/time there’s no mystery bill you feel me.

Worst part was, this was the only plumbing company that would come out within 24 hours without paying the $200-$250 emegency show-up fee (which is an adder to the bill if you do it). I called over a dozen of them. I think there is some BS collusion going on.

I did talk him down to $500 when he got done which clearly shows this s#it is completely negotiable and he was still thrilled with his take. Also this was a plumber with a big, supposedly reputable, company, not an independent.

That’s a little tougher than I thought . He used the press fit tool which is good instead of soldering . Those fittings aren’t cheap . Maybe around 400 for that job .

Ok. Maybe $500 isn't so bad if you think $400 was reasonable. It was probably worth the extra paid just to get it done sooner than later.

He does some nice clean work ! See the red sleeving on the pipe?? You could have turned off the valve a t the water heater to stop the leak it’s on the hot water and just had cold in the house until you found a better price .

Good point. I didn't think about it being on the hot water side. The leak was cold water so it didn't register when I shut the house water off.

Also, asking the wife to forgo a shower for more than a day would have been impossible. She works at a hospital and showers regularly. We would have had to get a $150 hotel room just for the shower. :ROFLMAO:
