RIP KK - passed yesterday the family posted today.

Amazingly talented - supposedly wrote this song and got a job at a studio as a janitor/assistant hoping to give it to Johnny Cash to record. Cash found him one day clearing tapes and he gave it to him to listen to - the studio found out and fired him.

Next day when KK wasn’t at work - Cash asked where he was as he wanted to discuss the song and was told he’d be fired for passing his songs to the talent. Cash told them they either hired him back immediately or he was walking. They hired KK back and Cash made sure he was in the studio when he recorded and told him he needed to keep the song for himself as no one could ever sing it as well as he did.

Amazing song and I’ve lived those lyrics a few times myself years ago - nothing like being hungover, broke and remembering.

7 years ago - Tom Petty left us.

He was one of those musicians who seemed so down to earth and had such a universal appeal with his simplicity.
