Bird flu hit the Midwest hard this year. That's where a lot of turkeys are raised.

A bunch of birds in my neighborhood caught it too and they are dropping like flies.

A pizza stone is heated in the oven before putting the pizza on it. It cooks the bottom side of the pizza while the heating element in your oven cooks the top since you can't really flip your pizza halfway through the bake.

The same principle is used for a turkey. The breast meat is done at around 150 degrees while the dark meat on the bottom needs to get to around 165 degrees. That's hard to do in an oven. So heat up a pizza stone and it cooks the dark meat on the bottom to a higher temp.

I prefer a Ham at all three major Holidays and for Thanksgiving we sometimes have both. Never been a fan of Turkey. Don't care for the smell or the smell afterwards as the dogs had too much of it and the kids have always do it on purpose as a joke.

In healthcare at retirement homes/Veteran homes, Thanksgiving overnights were the worst shift of the year to work. Loved taking care of our Veterans but the only good thing about that night was the smile on their faces as every holiday was a blessing for them and something different for them and the double pay. The double pay was not worth it though as all of them over ate, had gas all day/night, and most shit themselves numerous all night long.

Shout out to our posters and their wives who are health-care workers and sacrifice their holiday family time every year caring for others.

After my Mom got too old and too tired, I started taking over the Thanksgiving duties.

The first couple years I smoked a turkey breast on my smoker. Then my Mom said she wanted a traditional turkey dinner so I bought a pizza stone and cooked the bird in the oven. The pizza stone helps the bottom of the bird cook as quickly as the top.

Last year I started having blood sugar issues so I tired out after overexerting myself cleaning the house the week before. I laid down for about half an hour the morning of Thanksgiving and after that I was good to go!

So this year I'm catering in Boston Market. All I have to do is warm up the bird and fixin's in the pan and dish up the slop.

Hold the phone, I found a better selection of food for about the same price as Boston Market. AJ's Fine Foods is an upscale grocery and they have a Thanksgiving dinner prepared with the fixin's. All you have to do is heat it up.

i could agree with this. my parents decided to switch it up sometimes once by brother and i moved out. we've done turkey, ham, seafood, vietnamese food. a prime rib sounds fire right now no lie

this year i think will be a basic thanksgiving dinner.

Fvck Jibby. Guy talks shit about this place like many others that have alias' here. I always liked his posts next door but his talking shit about this place is nauseating. USCPhilly does similar shit. I advocate for visiting and sucking up every sites freebies. Sooner they learn it isn't a us versus them fight the better all these forums will be. It is all about keeping forums relevant.

I reached out to Shari a few weeks back about an all forums in forumville contest and if her forum would take part. I don't know how the powers to be will feel about it but she was game to talk about it. I also invited Shari and Opti on a future SOD POD a few weeks back to see if they wanted to safely address their forumville trolls that continue to talk shit about them elsewhere. I think all of forumville should be making a stand against these trolls that only bring hate or at least keep them in their dungeons/basements like we do. Most don't even gamble and bring nothing to the table
