Penalty kicks still one of the weirdest things in sports to me

Basically the same probability as making a free throw, yet the value of them is so large. It'd be like if a free throw counted for 30 points in a basketball game.

They should at least make it a harder shot IMO

I agree its a huge gift but you can't go as far back as 18 yard line, goalies would have huge advantage. Would almost have to be 15 yards to even it out.

Maybe to make it more challenging, the goalie gets to pick the guy on the other team that has to kick it. That would make it interesting and less of a given.
