For some reason the data doesn't exactly correlate. Looking at 2008, gambing revenue dropped but not as much as the markets did or GDP. Some economists considered it more recession-resistant that most businesses. Sure it falls just not as far.


As Pipe points out, the legalization may effect this trend.

Its tough down there not just for Gambling with sportsbooks them Indians paid for that lock down. But to just make a living period. I know man and it wasn't easy. Been there done that. The pressures of living in South Florida is tough. And I'll be honest with you jerky I don't miss that part. Parts I do miss going out in government cut to salt water fish and my kids.

Gambling can be defensive and while it's not exactly recession proof, I think that it's fairly recession resistant.

Same thing with travel, vacations, etc.

People still do that shit when the markets are getting hit and the economy is slowing down.
