defense strategy today is to mitigate penalties and force opponent to milk clock and convert downs.

The days of great 1 on 1, roaming free safeties or great blitzing MLBs is over. You either have an elite edge rush or you give up 30 points.

The Niners are 2-0 in large part because they went out and brought Robert Saleh home to be their DC. He's probably going to get a HC job again somewhere but I think he's a far better coordinator than he is a head man. The Niners D is better this year than they were last year imo because he's calling the shots on D this year.

Yeah I think he's a good coach but sometimes when you stick to what you know it brings out the best in you and the Niners D is performing like they did the first time Saleh was their DC when he had them as one of the best units in the league.
