There's so much great music out there now over the past 70 years it's impossible to claim "favorite " or "best"

Every great band has a couple hits that just ring true to multiple genre of music.... what the Beatles were & what they became are 2 different things; the Stones w their steel guitar/ 4 string blues base; Steely Dan, Van Morrison, Dylan thru the Talking Heads and Nirvana, etc.

But, if you wanna break it down into some categories:

Most prolific writer/ musician: V Morrison
Best 60s rock: Beatles
Best 70s rock: Zeppelin
Best 80s rock: Mellencamp
Best 90s rock: Pearl Jam/ Nirvana tie

Lifetime award: Stones
Most heart/poetic: Bob Dylan
Best female: Patti Smith

Best performing artist: Elvis

Concert that EVERYONE would attend: Petty

Minny has great taste. Myself, give me anything from the 1960s's. Of course love 1980s shit. Respect the music of the 1970s more as I get older. I love my hair bands Motley Crue, Def leppard, and Guns and Roses. Stopped listening to Rap when Tupac/Biggie died so anything prior I listened to. Despised grunge when it 1st came out other than Nirvana because that was the day hair bands died. Seen many oldies concerts and was privileged to see Petty shortly before his death in concert with Joe Walse. Have seen Def leppard the most out of anyone. Pissed I miss seeing the Eagles when i was in Florida

Gun to my head The Rolling Stones.

There was a feminist outcry when the band used a tied-up model to promote their 1976 album. Is rock’n’roll more enlightened now?

I agree this man has great taste & knows how to break down his selective decades. Has a real grasp in general of what sounds good from my POV.
