Greatest band.What’s the criteria ?
Greatest group of talent in a band (non supergroup) - give me the Beatles.
Musical talent wise - Stones post Brian clearly outshine the Beatles for example. Beatles you have Harrison who came into his own after 1965, McCartney who was average as a bass player but made up for it with his singing/songwriting and then 2 guys who weren’t all that good as professional musicians. Compare that to Mick Taylor/Ronnie Wood who were as good as any hot shot guitarist of the day - Charlie who was an underrated drummer because he was a professional and and not a mad man like Bonzo/Moon and then a back line of Keith/Bill who simply kept it all together and moving smoothly.
Greatest “supergroup” - Highwaymen or Traveling Wilbury’s for my money - although Clapton played in a few good ones.
Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd gets my vote.
There’s no such thing
You could make a case, Freddie Mercury one of the top musicians of all times every category and Michael Jackson, and a few others
Both of these bands are not even in my top 10, but I can recognize that the world loves them and they stand against the test of time.2 very good bands - use concert experience as a criteria and I’d take either other Beatles or Stones myself - for the simple reason that most Beatles concerts were 45 minute affairs of 3 minute songs - no one saw them do anything after ‘65 live for the most part. On the other hand - Stones concerts are just simply now 3 hour shows with so much ground to cover after 50 years. They want to do the new stuff - but know fans expect the hits too and it makes for a long show.
PF/Zeppelin get the advantage of being remembered for shows only at their peak in 70s again for many. Few saw Zeppelin post Bonham aside from various “reunion” one offs. PF has toured since Roger left - but for as much of an asshole as he can be - he is part of the magic of the band and helped create some of the most memorable songs.
Rivers that wasn‘t the question lol.MY favs are Springsteen/Skynyrd/Floyd
Did you like Queen KR?Of course the best band was Stones. Beatles close second but they weren't around long.
