You’re not gonna live in central America it’s very unsafe for Americans, a lot of places are unsafe

Columbia is beautiful but there’s constant robberies all the time all the big cities

Many countries have corrupt police forces, so there’s not a lot of safety. They’re all in cahoots with gangs let me handle this thread.

There are american enclaves in some countries. That's probably were we'd go.

I’ve done a ton of research it’s not peaches and roses in foreign countries

Medical care is also horrific

Obviously, if you live in Vietnam, there’s no tolerance for crime so that’s not an issue but there’s bad air pollution

I'd live in Central America close to mountains to avoid the heat.
Heard nothing but positive things about CR and Panama.
people from Panama go to CR. so CR is the spot to be

all along the beaches there are retired americans living there peacefully.

i went to a sportsbar in guanacaste in hopes of watching SNF one year, and i shit you not it was all americans in sports attire. met some bears fans too

if i don't move back to CR soon, i will definitely at least retire there

Actually, I've heard there is pretty good medical services in CR. Maybe not as many hospitals, unless you're in a major city but, from what I've read from expats its cheaper and more readily accessible than in US.

When we lived in Corpus, scheduling a doctors appt with a specialist of some type, we would have to wait 2-3 months to get in. Your only option is to travel 2-3 hours to a bigger city. So it can't be much worse than that in CR. Its only a 3.5 hr flight to Houston from San Jose.

I wouldn't mind living in a small town where everyone knows your name type thing. But actually I'm pretty happy where I'm at because this is where I need to be for work. At least that or in a major city
