NHL and college basketball.

College football has really changed and not in a good way.

NBA hasn't been legit since the late 90's.

NFL is unwatchable at time.

Tennis and golf still legit.

MLB out of control. $750 million dollar contracts? Small market teams never win championships. New time and extra inning rules.

UFC going to be more and more popular.

Boxing is a joke.

Don't like all of the instant replay stuff.

But college football ruined forever.

Hockey seems to have gotten everything right(OT,keeping fighting,Stadium series, smart expansion etc.)
Hockey got wrong the teams that it wants to win.

These games are all fixed.

NHL draft lottery is fixed.

NHL favours shit teams over traditionally meaningful ones.

They hate the Flyers always but the Flyers saved the league in the 70s.

Biggest attraction around were the Broad Street Bullies.

NHL fixed many games against the Flyers because of their hatred including more than a couple of draft lotteries.

I think almost all sports have changed to try and draw fans. Like you mention, most changes have caused the sport to fall further.

MLB - Sucks with $$$ getting out of hand (i.e. Yankees, Dodgers).
NBA - this has been discussed in other threads.
NASCAR - sucked since the change in rules with the playoffs and race segments.
NHL - I don't know enough abou it to make a call but Phillyflyer points out some adverse impacts.
NCAA - any sport. NIL money has screwed over college sports.

I think we are left with Soccer, Tennis, Golf.

Suggesting soccer hasn’t gotten worse is a joke. Probably the worst - right up there with the NBA.

Multi millionaire Prima-Donna’s and crybabies /
Come within 6” of them and they drop and flop like it was a Ray Lewis hit.

Tennis - probably the most fixed sport these days. Worse than boxing (because no one watches boxing).

Why else do books accept 3-10k wagers on Challenger matches where competitors aren’t making much more than that ?

I still enjoy watching soccer even with the antics so I can't say its worse.
NBA can't watch at all.

NASCAR - it’s a sport in the same way darts and poker are “sports”.

It takes a skill set - not necessarily any degree of physical ability - other than the ability to not get car sick going around in a circle 500 miles really fast and to hold your bladder for 4 hours.

They pee in the car Djeff.... You know they do.

Remember the days when Dale Sr. would run the other SOBs off the track? There used to be some great racing back in the day.

Used to be.

Remember Jimmy Spencer having a cigarette lighter in the car so he could light up during cautions / THAT spoke to the athleticism needed in the sport.

Good on him though - wound up with a major sponsorship from RJ Reynolds because of the habit.

I don't get the gripe with MLB and the money being spent. You all act like you are paying the bill. Tickets are still the cheapest of any sport and those deals do not guarantee rings like they used to. Yankees have been trying to buy one for a decade and have had no luck while several Cinderella teams have made the World Series and even won. One of the few sports where in any given year there can be a surprise stud that elevates his game. Hockey is the best sport in this country but gets overlooked. MLS is a total joke but European soccer is fantastic. College football is a dramatized day care that thrives off pure athleticism and creates horrible habits, this is why we see certain prospects just flame out completely in the NFL.

My three faves changed for the worst.

College Hoops with the 30 shot clock, video reviews, and flagrant fouls.

College Football with the kickoff/touchback rules, video reviews, roughing penalties.

Horse Racing with the CAWS, last second odds drops, Belmont refurb, channel roulette on big days, obvious juicers running wild.

The issue isn't about MLB ticket prices (although in our area the Astros tickets can be very expensive for the avg family), its that a few teams are able to "buy-up" so many good players making their teams dominant. Some level of parity would be nice.

I realize owners of some clubs (Miami and PIT) come to mind, won't ever pay up for good teams but having so many of the top players on just a few teams sucks.

Power to the teams that do it but its making baseball less enjoyable IMO.

Yea - ticket prices aren’t bad.

Unless you want to sit within 1000’ of the playing field.

$150 a ticket to Cleveland for “Diamond Box” I think - basically anywhere between 1st and 3rd - up to 25 rows from the field. That’s $100 an hour for 2 to watch a game - a bit outrageous.

Pittsburgh won’t pay - but they sure don’t lower ticket prices either - that’s for sure. Nice park - but games are very pricey.

Unless I’m been gifted tickets - no interest in going.
