I agree with this take. The Reds have a potent lineup but pitching gets you to the playoffs. After Greene and Abbott they're a little shaky in the rotation. Still it's good to see them much improved this year and I think they're well on their way to being a playoff team with a bright future maybe just not this year.

If you look at teams that are outperforming expectations (i.e. winning more than expected as measured by +units), since around June 10th, the Reds are the best team in MLB and its not even close.

They are +17 units since June 6th.
Bos & Bal are up 9 units over same period.

They are playing exceptionally well. And as many have pointed out, pitching is their achillies heel (20th in ERA, 22 WHIP).
