Let’s discuss.

What about get away days? Meaning a home series ending before going on the road. Here do you think that should be taken into account for your selection process??

I say yes. Look at the lineups. A lot of times good hitters may sit. So this is important to me.

I am a guy who always looks at line up’s.

Now, I know many like to ride losing or winning streaks.

Is that the best method?

Not necessarily.

Here I am old school. I believe the next pitcher up is good could stop a losing streak.

However this being said. Baseball has changed a lot since I first starting betting baseball.

It is now more important to look at playing 1st 5 in some cases where in years past I never would.

imperative to know who will go 6 innings or more. Also look at that teams pen. A pen can kill a good starter.

Sometimes you need to think outside the box.

There are so many games. I don’t bet volume. It’s best in my thinking to pick and isolate games.

Let’s get other takes and discuss.

I may do a Skype before the season starts.
No promises however.

Discussion open.

Team hitting & non-hitting streaks
Good

This is true. If a team is just not hitting they will slump for a while. However if the opposing team is starting a gas can can guy and that team has a weak pen, it may be time to take a slumping team.

Also a team in a slump and not hitting but have their ace going with a good pen??
Here the better play be taking the UNDER

PiMike, Great thread for discussion. Novice MLB capper here. Only worked on it seriously last year.
I have maybe 162 questons but I don't want to steal the thread.

I look at the following for pitchers when evaluating them: FIP and xFIP
I also check ERA but focus on FIP.

For batters, I look at lineup average of WRC+

Am I headed in right direction? I realize there are a number of other things to consider but these are some of the main criteria I consider when looking at a game.

Do you cap games strictly on player stats or do you play certain trends/systems.

For example (a bad one);
Look at plays on home dogs in divisional games when odds are <+150....

Not exactly that but situational betting like that.

mike, would you agree with the statement that baseball is great due to it's strategy and unpredictability? how come others think it's a boring sport to bet?
Nothing boring about it at all.

Those that say it’s boring, they couldn’t catch a fastball even if they wanted to. They couldn’t hit a fast ball either. Nor couldn’t dive and make a catch if they wanted to.

So no baseball is not boring. It takes skills and talent!!

I love it.

Now as for situational Betting absolutely

more so in football but yeah Baseball has it situational plays, but also football and football more so.

I do a lot of situational Betting.

Live betting tip not just for baseball but is more noticeable in baseball since the pitcher is key or with individual sports like tennis and golf.

Take a Psych look at it. Assess the pitcher. Look for his "tells." Anxiety has symptoms. many pitchers will just start sweating like a pig that normally don't or get fidgety. Has he mentally checked out? More easily seen in tennis players but pitchers as well. Problem is you have a short window and need a good service where your feed isn't delayed too much.
