Had another adulting moment this morning - waking up and seeing someone your age and seeing their name in an obituary.

Just someone I knew in passing years ago - but still absolutely an “adulting” moment when the first thing that pops into your mind is “what the hell did they die of - could I have it?” In your 20s/30s - it’s assumed to be a tragic accident - once you hit the 40s - the health thing starts creeping in and you start taking notice.

Need to start paying better attention to mine I know. It’s funny - start looking back on some of the people I knew when I was young and realizing how young they really were when they passed - with me thinking they were “old” - now realizing early 50s is not “old” - they just looked that way due to horrible lifestyles.
I think back sometimes how many friends and relatives and old schoolmates have passed many many years ago at relatively young ages 20s thru 40s roughly.
Causes ranged from ODs, motorcycle crashes, cerebral hemorrhage, cancer, cirrhosis of liver from alcohol, auto crashes, and last one recently catapulted from ambulance after being hit by drunken driver.
I am still here and wonder why. I could easily have joined their ranks with my past history. I take it both ways thinking about it. I am either very lucky or cursed to die a slow death perhaps.
I also had the same experience where my classmates from HS, college, and work days died due to accidents or diseases. Each of us is here for a reason and the reason we why we are still here until now is because we haven't fulfilled our purpose yet or simply really still not our time. If it's already our time, life can even stop in the middle of our sleep.
