Mine w/ the below list:

1. Going to the appliances and electronics section makes me more excited than dresses.

2. To choose to sleep on weekend nights rather than planning to go outside.

3. Minding my own business and staying away from a gossiper.

Let me hear yours! ;)

Aw, you have a great list here Sam.

I remember you have a great lawn. I also love freshly cut grass because of its natures smell.

1. Realizing everyone is “not” my friend. You will have a lot of “acquaintances” - few friends. Acquaintances only stick around when there’s something in it for them - friends stick regardless. When your 20 - everyone’s your “friend” - by 30 that circle begins to shrink.

2. Getting to a point where I realized money doesn’t buy happiness. Happiness is a state of mind and sometimes you need to CHOOSE to be happy. You can obsess over having more and building more - or you can be happy.

2A. Also realizing that you won’t be here forever - enjoy what you have while you can. As nice as the thought of leaving a legacy/inheritance may sound to some - spend some of it on yourself. Do what you enjoy - not what others say you should do.

3. Along with the above - realize others won’t be here forever either. Spend time with your parents and other people as they get older. One day they will be gone and you will be in a similar situation. Remember - younger eyes are watching your actions now and will emulate them in the future.

4. Realizing there are OCCASIONALLY words of wisdom buried in JJ’s rants. It’s like panning for gold in a sewage treatment plant - but there are occasionally nuggets in those turds. You hang around enough wise guys I guess - some of it’s got to run off I guess. Just another reminder to follow people smarter than you - and listen more than you speak. There’s and old saying about 2 ears and 1 mouth.

Things like skipping the bar for a quiet night at home - absolutely get it and agree. Then again was never really into the “bar scene”. Why pay $5-8 (or more) a drink when a bottle is $30-35 bucks and yields 25 drinks ?

Most importantly- all things in moderation. Fortunately- I have a wife who can balance me out - i tend to get too caught up in things and the balance keeps me around.

Very insightful, DJ.

The level of your maturity always amazed me. How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

A lot of my answers are mixed in this well thought out answer.

Yelling at the neighborhood kids to ‘GET OFF MY LAWN!’

Choosing TV or a movie over sex. 🤣

Not caring what anyone thinks about me anymore (not including the wife, of course)

Enjoying the finer things in life more, and being able to afford quality…..

Amazing what we wear and spend on clothes/fashion when we are young - vs what we pay and what we pick in adulthood.

It’s all about brands and look when your young - adulthood becomes comfort without giving a shit about looks.

Also funny how our perception of “quality” changes . People put way too much value on “brands” when they are young - as we get older - we accept the most reliable is typically not the flashiest brand.

Choosing TV/Movie over sex - not typically a “choice” when you’re over 40 and married.

Haha, good lists, Malted. Especially the 3rd part. It's like a different level of freedom if you learn not to care about what other people say about you.

I can say, that the great food pics you're sharing are one of the samples of the finer things in life. :)
