I wanted to bet a Pick 4 the day before the 2012 Belmont on Saturday’s big card with the last leg being the Belmont.

I only had $24 on me and didn’t really want to hit the ATM. I worked one up for exactly $24, capped off with Union Rags winning the final leg.

Went into the track that’s about 25 minutes from me. Made the bet, got all the way back to the car, put the ticket in the glove box. Before I pulled away I took one last look at the ticket to make sure no errors and realized I had punched in the wrong single, #1, for the first leg of the Pick 4.

So instead of just keeping the ticket thinking maybe it was a sign I walked all the way 5 minutes back up to the teller, fixed the ticket as I’d originally intended, and left.

You know what happened next. The #1 won the first leg as a longish shot, maybe 7/1 or so.

Cost me $2,400. I was so pissed. Last time I ever canceled a ticket.

@rdalert447 can probably relate to this particular story
Damn fn eh and then it won. 👊 I used to do horses down south at Gulfstream Park. I have many pictures and memories at that track. My thing back then was the exactas. I used to love those long shot exactas paying 100$ per exacta. Few years back I used to pound that harness Yonkers track also for a good amount. I've always keyed on exactas. Though do play some trifectas.

Has anyone ever made a bet say the night before and now you don't like it anymore before the game for whatever reason? And if so how did you handle it? Took a juice bath? Took a cashout if it is possible? Just stand by and let it ride?
If in Vegas and I catch it right away, I'll return to the window and make the change.
At online books, I usually just eat the bet unless there is something huge that makes me change my mind. Fortunately my plays aren't the size of yours so its not a big hit.

Speaking of being human and making a mistake - damn costly one for Spieth.

Spieth signs card with wrong score - gets DQ

I know - it happens every year or two to someone - but man that sucks missing out on a payday over a mistake like that.
I know its the golfers responsibility but doesn't the caddy play a role in this process to help them?
Note: Not a golfer or golf bettor.

No idea - but assuming the caddy gets a cut of prize money. No damn way I’d have lugged a bag around for 36 holes and let some dumbass sign the card wrong and screw me out of a paycheck.
