Never understood the desire of these guys to jump into racing as a second career. At 62 most people are preparing to retire and take it easy - this guy is out there trying to go 300mph and damn near died as a result.
It’s funny - I was reading a thing today on FB - recalling Marty Robbins (the 60s cowboy singer) and how he damn near killed himself intentionally crashing into the wall to avoid t-boning a disabled car driven by NASCAR legend Richard Childress. Marty had a pretty good signing career and had plenty of cash from it - but loved racing and just used his musical career to fund his racing career.
Seems pretty damn dumb to me - taking all the money you get from doing one job to toss it on a hobby that’s going to deliver nothing but heartache and possibly kill you. Then again though how many of us do the same thing every week gambling - working 9-5 to fund a losing hobby that maybe one day we get lucky and get closer to breaking even on.
