This is a good question. I guess I would go with some mix of the sire/broodmare. Something fast or regal. I don’t like the goofy names.

If I remember correctly, jockey Ferrin Peterson had the highest ROI by far here last year. She hasn’t had many mounts as she just got over a broken collar bone, but wouldn’t be surprised if trainers put her on a couple live ones going forward, just based off her production last year here.

Race 5 has some potential. Three trainers in there that I’ve been chasing, all at 10-1 and higher. Tough choices but this is how I played it:

Elliott, Blair, Davis, or Beckman? Been betting them all but landed on Blair. He hasn’t had many starts recently, so feel he’s laying in the weeds. Hoping to time the run right.

4 looked like a winner closing on the inside, but encountered some traffic. That’s the game.

Moncada, who’s having a great meet, seems to do better on the speed-types than the closers. I’ll file that away for later use.

The lovely Michelle Elliott with another entrant here. Her entrant last race didn’t run a lick, but this one gets Fernando which I think (or hope) is a positive sign, intent-wise. I’d really like to be alive to the 9 & 10 in Race 8.

Not a big Habeeb fan, but this horse ran real well here last out off a two month layoff. Looked ready to strike in the stretch but hung a bit. Should be more fit tonight and gets the underrated Gavin Ashton aboard.

@str and @rdalert447 i realized we’re coming up on the 10-year anniversary of one of my best and favorite horse bets of all time - $200 straight Lovely Maria-Pharoah Oaks-Derby double

Paid over $5k.

LoDuca was talking up Lovely Maria on the Oaks preview show and the more I looked at her the more I liked her too at a price.

Luckily I got the bet down as it was one of the few Oaks days I wasn’t able to take off from work. I think I got there 12 minutes to post to make the bet and watch the race

It was literally the only bet I made that weekend. Just let it ride on AP in the derby

Me and the ex believe it or not were at a wedding Derby day 2015 (also Mayweather-PacMan day) and a friend had of text me a play by play of the derby.
