You might see the day federal income tax and the IRS get eliminated because of these tariffs though.
I will put money up that this will never happen during Trump's term.

They would have to pull this off within the next 19 months because it appears all of Trump/Elon's recent work is energizing democrats for the next election cycle. I doubt conservatives control the House and/or even the sentate (maybe on that one) after 2026.

If you think for a second that China needs us more than we need them, then you are completely delusional and haven't been paying attention. It's not 1985

China has shifted to buying things like Oil, Soybeans, etc, elsewhere already, which they know will kill many farmers here etc.

They cut off our access to rare earth minerals, which is a huge hit to our economy on several levels. They know exactly where to hit us as a country.

China has been preparing for this for over a decade now, and Christmas comes early. They are making better deals with other countries and both are agreeing to not use the dollar. which only continues to weaken it, and as the dollar weakens so do we.

Wow! I don't know what you're seeing but what I'm seeing is the total opposite.

The Democrat Party is in shambles. Who leads it?

Kamala? Biden? Newsom? They're all a disaster.

Newsom let his state burn to the ground in order to save a fish. Literally.

I think Reps control everything for the foreseeable future at the least.

Even if the elimination of the federal income tax and IRS isn't accomplished in this Trump term, I would bet it would be in the next term under Vance.

In the modern world, this is just ridiculous, tariffs don't work that way.

yeah and 99% of it was bullshit and completely inaccurate

my mean wth... this shit isn't rocket science do some reading and a little information gathering and you can easily find all the facts needed to prove it.
It is true that you can't listen to him because he's a pathological liar, meaning he literally doesn't know the difference between truth and lies. It's just all a load of bullshit

So do we have a bet on IRS being dissolved before 2029???
We can pick someone to hold the money for the bet until its settled. Let me know the amount.

Trump says - the problem is he doesn't know what he is talking about. his idea is from a time that no longer exists.

In today's free trade world, countries only eat a small percentage of the tariffs and pass the rest on to consumers add that to reciprocal tariffs, and the math doesn't add up, which wasn't always the case but it is now. When Trump and his band of idiots calculate the numbers, it's using an equation that doesn't even make sense anymore. They just want it to look good so they can con the fools who don't know any better into thinking it could work. But every good economist will tell you it's fantasy land. His tariff plan wouldn't even cover the cost of our yearly military budget :surrender:

When I see people say stuff like this, I don't know what to think.

Trump has people like Bessent advising him, by all accounts, an absolute expert when it comes to trade.

Are you saying you know better than Bessent and his team?

I am saying they are deliberately lying! It's a con plain and simple and there are tons of things called facts that prove that

facts do matter

Of course facts matter no one is saying otherwise.

Where is the lie? Trump said before the election tariffs were coming. He got elected and boom here they are. So where's the lie?

He gives an interview. Reporter asks him could tariffs replace the income tax. He says he can envision it. So I'm sure he's already thought about that.

I fail to see any lies.

Bessent is the only one with any common sense on foreign trade in the entire administration. He's the one who talked Trump off the ledge and got him to pause the tariffs for 90 days to avoid a bond market collapse.

But, the problem with Bessent (just like all trump appointees) is that he is scared of getting on Trump's bad side. Trump has a tendency to fire anyone who doesn't show 100% fealty to his majesty. That stops anyone working for Trump from giving sage advice and leads to where we are at now...

Trumps comments before the election and actions after are similar to this metaphor...

A doctor tells you before surgery, "Hey, we need to operate on you. Minor stuff. Just a few cuts and stiches. Nothing to be worried about." When you come out of surgery, you have an arm and leg missing and the doctor continues to say, "See minor stuff." :ROFLMAO:

exactly. saying something doesn't make it true

A tariff war in this day and age cannot work. Should we always be working for better trade deals sure, we should that's common sense, and we always are.

But his idea is like bringing in a tank to kill a hummingbird and the numbers that they are trying to pass as "accurate" are using a formula they know is wrong. they are only doing it to make him look good because they don't wanna piss him off and get tossed out in the rain.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks of Trump

The fact is the majority of Americans support him, and those numbers are growing as droves of Democrats leave the party

JD Vance or whoever the republican nominee is next time around, will win by an even greater margin than DJT did
