Rdaler in Central Florida as well.
Every year the same thing it seems. For the 5 years I was there, I had 2 choices Team A or Team B. I always chose Team A as I was over an hour away and I could bring my family to stay at the hospital if I wanted. The bonding experience with co-workers, being able to have your family safe with you, and making bank being paid overtime/double time while you were sleeping was great but the worry for the community and family not in a shelter svcked. A group of us would get there early and claim the chapel as our spot. Mentally, we made it like it was camp. If you are ever in a situation where you are without power/water for an extended period of time, the maternity section where families are usually are waiting for their loved one to have a baby usually has a bunch of private shower bathrooms. Bring flip-flops so you don't pick anything up but they are usually nice and clean. Team B was the relief staff that came in days later when the State emergencies were lifted but not all roads were yet cleared
