By far the worst thing about betting basketball in particular the NBA is that guys are literally supposed to play all day long and then shortly before tipoff they get ruled out. Now sometimes you're able to avoid this trap because the line tells you all you need to know about a players availability but it's tough to take an NBA game early because you never know the status of the players. This is not a problem in any other sport besides basketball and that's frustrating.

1. Tech inboundsthe ball with 13 seconds left.
In most scenarios like this either team will dribble out the last few seconds. Game is out reach but for some reason BYU still going all out defensively

2. Texas Tech has possession. Even if BYU fouls them unnecessarily and Tech makes 2 free throws, total is still under at 138

3. Texas Tech throws the ball away turning it over

4.BYU scurries down the court launches a meaningless 3pointer as time runs out.
The ball bounces a couple of times and falls in.

The line moved 3 points when he was downgraded to questionable. I bet it when he was probable and the line hadn't moved yet. I don't have time to wait until 7 pm to place my bets so I got screwed by Jokic deciding he couldn't go during warm ups smh.

#2) What happens if that heave at the end wasn't blocked by Nelson & miraculously goes in & UNC wins by 1?

A shave is an intentional miss dougy. Irrelevant what the spread was or if NC got the heav ho ball to go in.

Same thing applies when you are losing by only 1-2 possessions with 1minute or less left in the game. DO NOT FOUL force them to make a shot so you have a chance to cut into the lead.
If they make the shot so what at least they beat you and you didn’t beat yourselves by awarding them a free trip to the line to seal it

Well, happened to me again tonight with Arkansas St being up by 20 points. I have the under and with 1 1 /2 minutes left in the game the score is 10 1/2 points under the total.

A couple 3 pointers get hit along with some other points until the points are 3 1/2 points under the total with 27 seconds left and Arkansas St steals the ball. You would think the other team would just let them dribble out the ball and I would get my under, right? Well you would be wrong if you thought that.

The other team fouls the person who stole the ball. He sinks 2 free throws and with 8 seconds left the other team scores a 2 pointer to go over by 1/2 point.



I have to say though I had another under that was going way over until the last few minutes when both teams went cold and I hit the under on that one.

Add in the fact that I've had a couple overs go over in OT that would have gone under.

Betting totals is tough because too often refs control the outcomes of games. That's why everyone says basketball is rigged. I don't necessarily think it's rigged but the refs impact the games so I can see why people think that. Everyone always says the NBA wants more games for ratings in the playoffs and I think there's some truth to that but knowing all this we still bet the games because its fun to have skin in the game. Unfortunately sometimes the calls go your way and sometimes they don't which makes betting hoops frustrating whether it be college or pro.

The thing is a team can be down by double digits with 1 minute left, and you have to pray they don’t hit one 3pointer, because if they do they suddenly think they have a chance again (even though they don’t) and they start intentionally fouling again

There’s a few unnecessary scenarios that happen at end of games which affect the total and a lot of it has to go with poor basketball IQ and as JJ has mentioned some of these kids just aren’t that bright To begin with

These are the worst beats. You have it all wrapped up. 95% win probabiliy on the bet with < 2 min to play and crazy s#it happens. Sometimes we're on the right side of these but it sure feels like we're on the wrong side more often.
