This was a great take why NCAA hoops gets way better ratings than NBA

The NCAA men’s and women’s tournament are both going to set all time ratings records this year. So why is the NBA continuing to tank in ratings? Because LeBron, Pop, Kerr and Adam Silver have destroyed the league’s brand by going woke:

I watch very little of the regular season Gold because it's an exhibition of sorts. Playoffs a horse of a different color.
The problem with the regular season imo is that there are maybe 10 teams in the NBA worth watching. The rest of the teams are spending time tanking and it makes it pretty bad basketball to watch. The league has always been this way but I still watch because I'm a hoops junkie. The playoffs are great but unfortunately you rarely see upsets because usually in a Best of 7 series the best team typically wins. Still though the basketball is at least watchable because both teams play hard with their season on the line and a championship at stake.

Yep all the Filipino side of my family loves watching basketball and even have favorite teams like the Celtics and Warriors that they've stuck with because they're good. I don't know why this is but I think its because basketball is easy to understand so they follow it. Also I live in the Bay Area and the Warriors have been fun to watch so everybody in my family pays attention to the Warriors.

Feels like you mean we rarely see upsets in the series result but we do see plenty of upsets within those 5 or 7 game series'.

In that respect, it's a bit like the regular season where just about anything can happen in one game, regardless of the line. One team gets down, then they seem to give up and just wait for the next game at home, etc. and that can make for boring NBA action.

Some NBA playoff games go off and are good, but not nearly as intense as NHL playoffs.

Yes there are occasions where one game there is an upset but I was referring to series wins where you have a lower seeded team take down a heavily favored higher seeded team. It has happened but it doesn't happen often as only five teams have beaten a 1 seed since 1984 when the playoffs expanded to 16 teams. This is probably why hockey fans always say the NHL playoffs are better than the NBA playoffs because it happens there more often since there's more randomness in hockey.

Oh wow. You're a FilAm, JR?

Yeah, I think that's the reason, easy to understand and the accessibility of the court where they can play whenever they want. You'll find simple basketball courts even in a small space or in the backyards of Filipino households. haha

Yeah I'm half Filipino. My mom is from Bagiuo City and all my cousins love basketball. They watch other sports but basketball is their favorite and one that I actually don't have to explain much about because they actually understand what they're watching for the most part.

Nice! Happy to know we have some Filipino blood here not only me lol. I've never been to Baguio but that's one of the famous tourist spots there. Have you visited the PH lately?

I bet there were already times that your cousins bet against you for a game result. Try to introduce them to NFL and they will have 0 idea lol

Actually I've never been the Philippines in my life but maybe one day I'll go when my cousins go back home. As for NFL my cousins watch but I have to explain most of it to some of them who are just starting to watch it. They always ask me for my opinions on the game but they're just casual fans for the most part and don't bet on anything sports wise I don't think which is a good thing because I do have some family that likes to gamble on my moms side.
