This is some serious s#it. As we've seen with others, the stigma of stealing money from other posters never goes away.

I can see why Dougy loaned out the money.

I'd probably loan some posters a small amount if they were in a bind (a very select few posters). I realize that might be a dumb thing to do based on these lessons from others and my own but, many of us have been in a tough spot and needed a little help.

I've done this before with roommates and family and got burned. But, it was always an amount that I could live without if I didn't get it back. I think I've been paid back by more people than I've been stiffed over the years.

As mentioned - we know the risk going in - but a lot of us have been caught in a tight spot before and simply want to help out someone we trust. It’s absolutely no solace knowing it’s “only” a small amount either - it’s more about trust and betrayal over such a small amount.

Amazes me that some people value their reputation and name that little. You f’ed up - own it and don’t make excuses - just a plan on paying someone back. This isn’t a case of charging back a book or something where it’s a business and these things are inherent risk of the business both parties know going in - this is a plan to a fellow poster who gets no benefit from helping you out. Do the right damn thing and pay the man.
